Title: My FASTING diary
Post by: Boost on November 19, 2008, 04:24:43 AM
I have been eating so much junk recently that its time for a change
I feel lethargic and bloated, holding a lot of water (especially in my face)
Sleeping all the time, complexion going downhill
Terrible workouts.

For the next few days i will not eat anything. I am going to be drinking water and taking in some dietary fibre (psyllium husk) to keep regular bowel movements and hopefully just detox my system.

I will keep this thread updated on my mood, and physique changes etc.

Current weight : 217 pounds
 :)

Its 8:20 pm here.

Looking leaner already.
Starving at the moment, but resisting the urges.
I have had tons of water today, and around 30 grams fibre

Complexion looking abit better also.

energy levels have not been too bad. No urges to sleep (I usually take a nap during the day)

Hoping to make it through the night

This is an awful idea.  You're jumping from one extreme to the other.

If you're starving, eat something.  High protein, moderate fat, low carb high fibre.

I like the challenge.
Both mental and physical.
I have come VERY close to breaking the fast (had food in my hand at one point)
Apparently after a few days your energy levels SKYROCKET.

Do you work, Boost?
Serious question, I couldn't concentrate on zero cals.

I'm at University and not too busy for the next few days so i thought i would give it a try.
The weird thing is i feel i have the same or MORE energy than i do when eating loads of junk.
My energy levels have stayed constant all day.

When i am eating rubbish, I have highs and lows, and the lows lead me to nap in the middle of the afternoon for an hour or two.

The intense cravings last for about 30 minutes and then its all good.

I feel very alert

It's not a question of willpower.  Starving is simply the most effective way to lose muscle.  Your testosterone level will drop sharply too.  It's a bad idea.

Your energy levels will skyrocket because you'll be running on cortisol and adrenaline.  Neither of these are going to do your physique or longterm health any favors.  If you're feeling lethargic and tired all the time, putting your system under the stress of starvation is the worst choice you can make.

i like the idea of "cleansing".

I have been pumping my body full of garbage food for months,
my digestive system needs a break. I am sure i won't lose too much muscle, but i am looking forward to dropping alot of water.
I hold ALOT of water, puffy cheeks etc.

It's goodbye to the shortcuts,
hello to the grind.

Nobody ever said it would be an easy ride.

cortisol and test should increase the day after, and drop the day off.

intermittant fasting is pretty healthy, this is not IF, but im sure this wont affect his body negatively over the long term. It may have some health benefits.

I did the lemonade fast a few times for 10 days, and let me tell you, It cleanse you body big time, especialy you digestive system! You feel great afterwards. I water fasted for 3 days a couple times also.

Fasting is a great cleanser and spiritual journey as well!

Jesus, elijah, and mose are the only 3 that fast 40 days without food and water, and they just happen to be the only three that appeared on the mount of transfiguration.....no coinicidence.

Fasting.....something magical happens with this practice......your mind becomes super sharp and more connected to GOD as well

Spent all day on my feet

Energy levels of a COMA patient

Almost fainted while climbing a flight of steps.
Heavily dehydrated (Piss was luminous orange)

butttt...

It's goodbye to the shortcuts,
hello to the grind.

Nobody ever said it would be an easy ride.

Climbing into my bed now, completely exhausted....at 5pm

You should at the very least be keeping yourself well hydrated.  Drink a ton of water man, you're gonna end up in the ER.

YES. not drinking water with some electrolytes is stupid. Fasting is not done without water and even then its pretty brutal. Most people do veggie juice fasts to obtain some nutrients.

Fasting is great man, you should try it again sometime.  I'd like to put on some more muscle before my next one but when I do it, I think it will look something like this:

         Day 1: Dry
         Days 2-5: Minimal water
Day 6 and 7: Veggie and fruit juice

This is EXACTLY what happens on these types of crash diets. ( Think daddy wady/ Johny falcon ) You reach a point were you completely give up, and you'll be much worse off than when you started. Your metabolism is now half what it should be, and your back to junk. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see whats gonna happen. When people give you good advice and you ignore it, you have no 1 to blame but you know who ;)

Bro....You missing the forest for the trees

Fasting is to cleanse your body of toxins and clear the mind, and it has nothing to do with a diet or trying to lose weight or fat!

Are you talking about a religious fast? There are numerous types of those.

I know exactly what a fast is for ;) Problem comes from the weak will of 99.99 of people in the world, who go on a binge after the fast and can actually make things worse. Exactly what happened to boost. This is of course my opinion, and nothing against boost, fasts just are not for you bro 8)
