Not all of us have the luck to train in a well equipped Gold's/Powerhouse/World gym. So what is missing in your gym?
Here's my top 3
(http://www.donoliver.co.nz/images/TB-7015%20Olympic%20Decline%20Bench.gif)
3. Did you ever tried dumbell presses on a short en steep roman chair? Well I do them so I wish a decline bench.
2. You don't see them much anymore, a high prone row bench for training the upper back without too much lower back help.
1. A pair of 75lb dumbells.
-
I miss a gym with a Roman Chair for sit-ups/crunches. :'(
I also miss the plate loaded Hammer Strength Machines. I used to lift at a Powerhouse gym have had all three in a row. You could move right on down the line... ;D
-
I liked the old style pec-deck. Not the kind where you extend your arms all the way, but the one where your hold them up like you are doing a front double bi pose.
-
a squat rack, reverse pecdeck, heavyer dumbells and much more things. most of the machines are fancy plastic equipment with bad grip and stuff, horrible.
-
I wish my gym had a seated dip machine, I prefer regular dips but the machine is a nice change of pace now and than. Also we have no low back machine.
We do have a Nautilus pullover.
-
x2 on the old school pec dec.
I also miss the reverse hyperextension machine and the dipping station.

Well you may have our Chair, bye bye nasty Roman ;D
We have one HS; the regular chest press. Which one's your talking about?

But do you still fit in that? ;)
We have one with very loose handles so you can easily choose between a width or small grip.

nowadays they want to make machines almost so that theres a minimum of effort neccesary to get results.
it has to be as easy and relaxing as possible. almost like yoga therapy. people are lazy in general these days, its just going too well. theres a chronic lack of problems inherent in the mind of the people.

As a ex-weight trainer I can confirm that. I had many clients with a attitude like "give me a easy(!) schedule to get quick results". Most of them didn't had the patience, attention and discipline to train proper(!) with free weights. It's a sign of the time; people stick their energy more things like earning money, playing computer games and socializing.

Hex Bar for Deadlifts
Very hardcore :D

I miss the deadlift jack we used to have, just so much easier to pu plates on... :-\
-
Leg press
Hack squat
pullover machine

I don't train in a gym.
You fuck goats instead?
-
Considering the requests I hear it's the old style pec dec/shoulder destroyer.
Old turds always asking if I can get them one, then I quote the commercial price for it and they slink out.
-
I train at home. I don't fuck goats, but that poster from New Zealand does fuck sheep.
Goats always trump sheep.
-
Dumbells stop at 120lb. :(

Why not buy a second hand? We have a lot a Schnell's (German brand) from the 70-80ties which are much more robust than todays plastic toys.

No, I sell them. And these random old guys show up and are convinced that it's the best piece of equipment made for chest.

In most gyms the DB's go up to 60-70lb. For my ex employer that was an excuse to keep BB'ers out of the business, very retarded.

glute ham raise machine
-
Nautilus pull-over machine.
The standing incline press / shoulder press boards that York use to make. The one's that used the iron boots for foot placement. It was an interesting way to do the lift, just a bit different feeling.
That high rowing bench is great, I love that lift, but hate having to jack up a regular bench every time I want to do them.

Are you a girl, have you trained with Kai Greene or what?
-
Air guitar platform for cardio.

I just got a 400lb tractor tire delivered this week. My equipment list is almost complete.

'standing incline'? Interesing, I've never heard of that. Can you post a picture? (I've already tried Google Image)

That's a good idea, I will try that. We have 2 small iron platforms for your feet or while doing deep rows/deads.
Interesting to see there are a lot of (Nautilus) Pull-over fans. I've tried them but prefer the DB or barbell version more.

LMFAO!! ;D

1. T-bar rowing machine
2. A good standing calf-raise machine
3. Arm-curl machine with equal resistance through the whole range of motion.

So which tractor parts are still missing? The farmers daughter?

Hahaha, I'll post part of the workout up on youtube sometime today.

Glad to see I'm not the only 'kaaskop' (cheesehead) here. We're often tuned to the Arrow Classic Rock station since we have a lot of pumping oldies. I love the Golden Earing! (no I'm not that old)

No more stripper aerobics at my gym :(
-
Dumbells stop at 120lb. :(
Same there. Luckily, I stop at the 80s.

I miss an Old Sparky...to electrocute all those knob heads who give a shit about putting back the weights. Our gym floor always looks like a f*ç%& mess >:(
-
Hammer Stregth seated row machine... Old school Hammer Strengthlat pull down -- I've only seen one and I love it. Could really feel it in my lats.
-
Incline bench press.
It's just not the same on the Smith machine...
Leg press.
The weight loaded type at 45 degrees.
I found this to be the quickest way to thicken up my legs....I do squats now, which overall are better but I still think the leg press is better for upper leg mass because you can really go heavy and you can hit those muscles more directly without the back and rest of bedy coming into play.
-
Most Gold's are doin away with EZ Curb bars and opt for racks of preloaded EZcurls....for me that entire preloaded rack is garbage.....let me load my own EZ curl bar.

That reminds me, we have a shitty incline (for barbells) which is too steep (45 degrees)

I love the LP too. Try some front squats or walking lunges instead.

Try the second photo down on this link: http://ditillo2.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-bruce-randall-trained-randall-rader.html .
It was basically a heavy adjustable slant board that would offer some support for the lift, but not enough to qualify as a seated press.
It nicely bridged the gap between the standing and seated versions. You could safely feel all the little ancillary muscles working like in the standing version.

In fact I miss most of the HS equipment. We only have a seated chest press.

I think that would be a disaster for the lower back because you can handle more weight than a front shoulder press.

Me too. I prefer a Olympic EZ bar because of the thicker grip.

stop at 95lbs at mine

Hyperextension...had one though not enough used it so he binned it.
In regards to bbuilders, 70lb DB's and gym owners.
Its a savvy move. Bodybuilders train too long, make noisem sweat grunt, intimidate others (not een iuntentionally)
In the 2 hours they are there you might get 4x middle aged men doing half an hour buying 2 drinks and leaing. 4x the money...bbuilders gyms are very rare...a successful one is even rarer

piece of shit.

Unfortunately I have to agree with that. Over 90% of the gyms are fitness minded. I've trained for years in those kind of places until I discovered a noncommercial weightlifting club. It has mostly old equipment, but WGAF... I can trow dumbells, fart, tell bad jokes and 'read' the Playboy without staring eyes. In other words, I can be myself :)
