Just curious as to what US cities you would rank as the top bodybuilding cities. I will assume that LA is #1.

Warm places. L.A, Florida....Texas. Or cities with tons of gay people, and freak shows.

I spend a good amount of time in NYC due to work, and it's a dirty ass city. It's fun, but it smells like Garbage in the summer.

Don't get me wrong....NYC is a fun city. Some of the best nightlife in the world, awesome resterants and shopping. But, I think it's highly overrated in some circumstances.

no I totally agree, it has lost it's real charm actually, thanks to Guilianni and Bloomberg, its now one big Rite Aid and a bank on every corner and horrible dressy boutique bars, its more like a bad South Beach or LA now...lost all the grit and realness. and only one leather bar :'(

The greater ATL metro area is pretty damn good for BB. Lost of good, modern gyms and we just had the NPC Nationals, etc.
I would estimate the worst would be VERY rural areas of Noth Dakota and Alaska .
LOL, the Fairbanks , Alaska - Mooseman BB classic.
I doubt the end of the Aluetian islands near Siberia is a hot bed of BB gyms either.

It's still very special if you know where to look, under the radar. Not what it once was then again the rest of America's been sterilezed even more so it's still interesting in relation to most US cities. As always, a better place to visit, thanks to the harsh quality of life.
Easy to blame politicians but in fact the city started losing it's edge in the mid-80s or so, thanks to aids, crack, social conservatism, etc.

true about AIDS...definitly ruined NY artisitically...the 90's was one of the worst decades artistically speaking ....some things are better now, and I can see a new art community blooming again, in Brooklyn and some great galleries around town..good architecture too. Maybe the new young artistis will bring it back, if they can afford to live here. just hope to get Bloomy out :D

ny back in the 70,s was nuts,we used to jump on the pathtrains from newark and go to 42,nd st and scope out the hookers and peep shows,it was great being i was 9 or 10 years old
-
I'm from Atlanta but I've been living in Kuwait since 1995. Kuwait is a great place for bodybuilding. Especially if you're using. You would loose your mind over there. Great Gyms but a bit pricey and all the gear you can afford with little to no law enforcement scrutiny. If I was using I'd be in Steroid Heaven.

I used to take the metro north into grand central station, walk to china-town and buy m-80's by the gross from the shop keepers. The kind that can blow the shit outa a garbage can. I was around 11-13. Great times.

Are you being serious or is this just another "Getbig" type answer that I, being a Newbie, just don't understand. I know there are a lot of great bodybuilders that come out of Egypt so I'm thinking you may be serious.

Very much doubt it FP. I'd think drug laws would be federal. Maybe they're just less strictly policed up in frontier land.
Don't move there tho. I've heard Alaskans are total assholes to outsiders. Like worse than Getbiggers. They straight up shun you.

Just out of curiousity, did doing it their way yes their way ever make all their dreams come true or are they still working in that brewery for $8 an hour?
'Cause that youthful optimism would be pretty shot to hell by now you'd think.
-

::)
firstly alaska isn't a country.
secondly steroids are legal to use in my country.
maybe it is a federal law ??? maybe it was canada i read about, is gear legal in canada or certain provinces ???

I just moved from LA to Austin, TX and consider this a good bodybuilding hub. The cost of living is much cheaper than the West Coast. Considering today's economy, the inexpensive Midwest might be a good place to bodybuild when compared with densely populated coastal areas like FL, CA and NY.

What about Vegas?
A 2xMr O lives there in a $1,500,000 home with some dogs and a woman.

I've been and lived all over the world. NYC is the place for me.

Thats cool. To me NYC is overrated. Once you get over the initial NYC experience, day to day life is a bit different. Tons of trash and lots of smog.

Yeah but if you moved next door, his dogs would piss and dump on your yard. THAT and he cooks this stinky fish on his outdoor grill and always does his cardio wearing crocs. Plus, I saw he hogged all the good equipment / wts while working out at the Vegas GOLDS.

San Diego. Beach city where the weather is mostly fine 80% of the time. Very body conscious. Some good hardcore gyms in the area. And for juicers, just take the short drive across the border to TJ for your gear. Some BB'ers will cross 3 or more time a week, shoot up/use and than back to California. Even heard there are one or two hardcore gyms on the Mexican side. Drive a little further to Otay Mesa. Cross the border, go down Garita de Otay blvd and there you are. Much Less crowded.
Might have to dodge a few bullets from time to time in TJ though. Six more cartel killings just the other day. Have to cover your gringo ass at all times down there. Try not getting too stoned.

??? I lived in Norway for 3 years - the hardcore gyms were very, very rare - but they were there if you looked hard enough (I worked out at Kaliber Gym now called Kaliber Training studio in T.heim - loved that place it was my second home and the people were great - I accually trained with an IFBB pro there) - there was this gym franchise called SATS that should have been called SUCKS - they didn't cary dumbells over 85lbs? And supps oh boy - Norway didn't allow anything that looked like it might actually work!! Well I'm back in ATL now out in D.ville where I train at Exersize gym that used to be Powerhouse Gym great equipment cool folks. Metro ATL has a boat load of BBers - never went to Lee Haneys spot by City Hall though - been thinking about hitting it up just for a day just to say I've been there.
-
Modesto Ca.........small town, but its the home of a few IFBB pros :)

yeah the outside of atlanta is good. There is a golds on panola road in henry county, thats the best they come...real gritty gym.

Chicago.
ChiTown not only has The Grand Master Bishop Don Magic Juan, Twista, R.Kelly, Kanye West and The Smashing Pumpkins but it has beaches and blistering cruel summers like L.A. It has nightlife and underworlds like Las Vegas. It has culture and diversity like New York. Long and Cold winters like Aspen, Colorado and warm springs like Miami.
We have the best food on the planet, rabid sports fans and the bodybuilding scene is healthy (pun intended) and vibrant. There are gyms and G-Y-M-S everywhere along with supplement/health food stores. The gear trade is fairly easy as pretty much anything is accessible. It is host to Jr. Nationals and 6 other NPC shows during the fiscal year.
IFBB Pros include...
Chuck Sanow
Alicia Harris
Chaundra Tanji
Sarah Dunlap
Betsy Harris
Sergio Olivia
Debbie Patton
Michael Liberatore
Today I paid $1.72 for gas and cracked a wad of goo into the mouth of a local figure slut for 100 clenbuterol tablets.
It's the greatest place to live.
TBH.
