Here's a cautionary tale for anyone who has a cell phone: don't leave naked pictures of your significant other on the portable device.

It was a lesson learned the hard way by a Fayetteville, Arkansas man after he accidentally forgot his handset at a local McDonalds last July. The loss of his mobile was bad enough for Philip Sherman, but this was worse - his wife had previously sent naked pictures of herself to his phone for what the couple calls his own 'private use.'

They were still there when the handset was allegedly discovered by restaurant employees, who phoned the man's mother and told him they found the device. They also apparently promised they would hang on to it and keep it secure until Philip returned to claim it.

You know what happened next.

The revealing pictures of Tina Sherman inevitably wound up on the Internet, creating huge problems for the pair, who have since been the subject of harassing phone calls and text messages, not to mention having the mortifying photos being viewed around the world.

Since this unfortunate story broke, Sherman's wife has become one of the most searched names on Google, as curious surfers hope to get a look at the provocative pics.

And it's been no small inconvenience. The Shermans have been forced to move to a new home, change their phone number and try to hide out until the storm dies down. That's just one of the reasons they've launched a $3 million lawsuit against the fast food chain, the franchise owner and the store manager.

It took 72 hours to get the pictures off the site where they were first posted, but this being the Internet, they may never truly disappear. The suit alleges the woman continues to suffer extreme emotional distress over the incident and thinks those responsible should pay for her public humiliation.

But the couple claims it's about more than just embarrassment. In addition to the disgusting salacious messages, they say some of the texts and harassing phone calls they've gotten have been threatening in nature, and they're now worried about their safety.

McDonald's has so far refused to comment on the case which has yet to hit the courts.

I smell a scam.

Let me guess, the wife is a 400# hideous creature?

No?

So they get their 3 million plus free advertising plus hits on their new forthcoming website.

Maybe not.

I don't know.  I leave my nude photos all over the damn town and I don't get nothing.

There are many people who lose their cell phones and cameras all over the place.

Setting blame for McDonalds is funny.

Jeez.

I think the idea is "these were McDonald's employees, acting inappropriately on the job, and had an obligation to return the property, rather than invade his privacy and distribute the pics / informtion / or make harassing, or obscene phone calls on the job."

That's a weak argument.

But, hey, it's no surprise that people today fail to take personal responsibility for their personal frak ups.

It may be weak, ...but it appears that's the one they're going with.  :)

They see it as the equivalent of a telephone operator listening in on your calls and spreading your private business all over town. Why sue a $6 /hr employee when you've got the world's most successful franchise sitting there I suppose?  (http://www.jaguarenterprises.net/images/em/shrug.gif)

And there it is - greed.

These people are morons and deserved to be publicly humiliated as a lesson to others.

{LOL} You have nooo idea how badly I've been wanting to hear those words! Seriously!

I had a delivery on the 13th, and that ^%%$%$^%%$!!! from the post office didn't bother to ring the bell.
He just assumed that since it was during the day, no one would be home, so he just left a door knocker to go pick it up at the post office. Unfortunately, he filled it out incorrectly, so I do not have the ID to pick it up. So I have to get Canada Post to do a redelivery attempt. Well, of course with the damned postal strike going on... I've been waiting for days. It took me a week just to get through to someone. Finally I got fed up and called someone at Canada Post in Ottawa. Even he tried to get through to the sorting plant in charge of the couriers. They are supposed to be sending it back tomorrow, ...but thank goodness the girl at my post office said she'd make sure they didn't send it back to the original shipper. Even she has been unable to get through to the sorting plant for the past few weeks. They're not even answering their phones anymore. For the past week, I've felt trapped in the house, ...waiting on the darned Canada Post courier. Except the past few days... I figured out that if I called my local postal outlet every day to see if the package was still there, ...that meant the courier hadn't picked it up yet, and therefore wouldn't be making any delivery re-attempt that day... so I could at least leave the house... not that I want to... it's been very very cold, ...but we warmed up to  plus 3 degrees yesterday and today, so I might as well enjoy the balmy weather before that damned Alberta Clipper they've been forecasting comes in and dumps 1000 lbs of snow on us. </rambling rant>

{sigh} I feel sooo much better now.  :)

WOOHOO! The Canada Post Courier arrived today!

Apparently he was going to return the package to the sender, and the girl at my local outlet told him...
"The only way you're taking this package out of here is if you go over to the house and re-deliver it NOW!"

She's just a tiny little thing, ...but she's like a force of nature when she's pissed off.
The poor guy arrived completely shell shocked. He was about to take another few rounds from me too,
but he did manage to squeak out "I'm NOT the regular guy" just in the nick of time.
