Title: Bikes by Members
Post by: divcom on November 24, 2008, 04:20:20 PM
We had a thread with cars.  Props to those who posted their rides.  A couple of Caymans, Hummers, Chargers, a Ferrari 360/430? and some others.  Ok...what type of cycle you ride or have had in the past?  What's your current fleet like including cars?  Only luxury stuff...no Accord EXs like I got.  :-\

Had a Katana back in the day before a buddy of mine got tagged by a woman driver.

In order

I started with a motorino 50cc (sorry couldnt find a pic but it is made in italy)

then switched to one of these babies

kawasaki kx60 cc

then enjoyed the power of the rm80 by suzuki, with pro circuit suspension and chromated exhaust straight from usa

after that i went into the big leagues and i was able to ride this baby, oh yeah, it was a great one. the yz125 by yamaha

in the meanwhile, i got a yamaha blaster, pink color, dont ask me about the color, it was like that, PINK. Heres a reference pic

Also a yamaha atv that was like a mini tractor, i dont remember the name and it was fucking useless. i dont even want to lookup for a picture

How to forget my all time friend, the suzuki rv90, yeah baby, i owned 2 of these ones and used to make hardcore wheelies, awesome bike

Then i went hardcore and got one of these .... my "buddy" the kawasaki ninja

the ninja didnt last too much because i met this baby, she was called the suzuki gsxr1100, the most brutal bike i ever got on and i respect till these days

That was my last one, did crazy things, always wearing a bell moto 5 rick johnson helmet signed by HIMSELF and it was a special gift for me. Those who know about that helmet, will know that it came "signed" from factory but mine was a gift, rick johnson is a truly american hero.

Oh and as special bonus, i owned one of these haha

The all mighty lambretta  ;D
(http://www.arodar.com.ar/Fotos/Vehiculos/18-Lambretta-175-Tv.jpg)

I tried a willy with one like that but i think it wasnt made for such purposes lol

Feel your pain TommyBoy, I don't have a bike now pretty much for the same reason.  My first bike was a 89 Honda CBR 600, after totaling that, I got a Katana (aka canatuna) just like the thread starter, same color and everything.  Then I had this 2000 GSXR 750 that was stolen from my apt. complex and I didn't get another.  Loved this bike, got some track time at Mid-Ohio and VIR but never raced.

The old man has the 1800.. He loves it. He needed the big bike and my mom wouldn't let him fork out the cash for a custom.. He's 6'7" or so and 335lbs.. He loves it, has taken it to 140 mph.. Thing still moves with his big ass on it.. Here's a pic of my old scoot, the wife had me sell it when the baby came. It topped out at 115 when I sold it, but it had several miles on it...

Yeah, the prices have plummeted. Guys that were spending 60-70k for a full blown custom are having a hard time offing them for 20K.

Still nothing like building a bike to your own specs instead of changing shit on someone elses creation.

Ultima motor 113", the only time I got a pant leg sucked in was getting careless pushing back from a parking spot, it just sucked it and let go, no big deal didn't tear my pants or anything. If you keep your legs at the side and not forward while you push back there is no problem.

Thought so, theirs are sweet. Just got the original narrow (4"), and we're still trying to figure out how to cram a brake in there.

Better tip: fuck it who cares? ;D

I don't think it's possible to fit a front brake on that. I'd have to see it to know wether or not it could be done. But I don't the width is wide enough for the disc.

Mine has never "caught" my pants, which'd be pretty ugly. But it'll pull my leg and slam it hard against the belt drive. Kinda scary at high speeds.

The narrow old-schoolers were brake-free up front, but a friend of mine had some machine work done to his wheel and fit a disc. Hopefully we figure it out, 'cause having to rely on the rear brake alone is not very comforting.

Never had any trouble at all during high speed, only when pushing back at idle. I hope I don't ever have to deal with that.

The only thing I could think of is to have the hub machined down as closely to the spokes as possible while still allowing clearance for the caliper. Did your front end come with the slug to mount the arm for the caliper?

Yeah, but I requested it. They're only making the old narrows by custom order anymore. I'll post a pic if we pull it off.

I had to request mine also, same if you want to mount a fender. How long is yours? I've heard the narrow ones flip/flop pretty bad when they get longer.

Mines stock length. Looks bad as fuck, but I don't trust myself to rely on the rear only.

Sent you a PM about the machined one.

What brand is that? I've heard bad things about some of the cheaper brands. No matter the brand, make  sure you have the chrome blasted off the bolt threads before you install them, the chrome gets in the way of the loc-tite and the bolt will back out and fuck your caliper. ;)

BTW, I run the Exile cycles sprotor on mine, it does clean it up real nice.

When is Billy Lane comin' back?  His "used to be" shop was 5+ miles from my house.  It was hardcore...just stop by & the guys are building the bikes like right there. :(

He's still around, I haven't really heard anything about his cases. I know the one were the guy died, I think he pled to a lesser charge and he had another DUI out west somewhere, don't know about that one.
