For me, not too much. I bought my house 10 years ago, so the only thing I've experienced is a drop in value.
My yearly bonus will be crap, but salary hasn't changed.

The Large Sweet Tea from McD has gone up in price from $1 to $1.29.
Needless to say, my daily routine has been screwed up royally.

My clients are holding out on me the same way I have to hold out on vendors as well. it really sucks!

I got lucky. I changed employers and practically had my salary doubled. I'll tell you, once that 30k started flowing into my coffers, I sort of felt guilty about purchasing the large screen tv, HD cable and (imminently) new guitar.
Oh, I forgot to mention the $25,000 I lost in the market. Oh well. I've been out of the market for a couple of months before things turned really bad. I still have the nest egg.

When gas prices rose, it was rough because I drive a lot.
So far, it hasn't affected me much...but thats also because I haven't made a lot of risky decisions.

Well, being the good liberal you are, why dont you donate the increase in salary to those less fortunate than yourself????

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....co me on Decker, even you have to laugh at that one.

I do. I donate to Good will, PUrple heart, the american cancer society, the wild ones, the susan Komen breast cancer spiel, and a couple of hunger task forces, impoverished children etc. My wife handles a lot of the donation stuff.
In fact, my donations (including a Dodge Spirit) topped out around 4-5 grand or so.
What do you donate to?

I donate to the NRA, Wounded Warriors, and the U.S. Treasury.
How about me???? I could use a donation of a few thousand.

MY "cost of living" increase has been 1% for the past two years. :'(

You conservatives are always looking for a handout...
The US Treasury? Lovely.

Now Decker, don't you feel better about being able to give to charities of your choice rather than the gov taking more of the $ you would typically choose to donate?
There were a couple studies looking at subjective feelings of happiness in giving. In general, they found people who were charitable had a sense of great happiness. Also, the person who gives a gift often feels better than the person who receives it.
-
I just donated 24,000 to Citibank & Friends. So did all of you.
-
I haven't paid US taxes in 13 years. Fuck those crooks and warmongers.

True . . .. very sad . . . but true!

You have been missing out on our crumbling infrastructure, herpe rate among young people, and brutal monetary deflation. Still, I'd rather live here than anywhere else.

I pretty much deal in cash. So aside from getting hit hard by higher gas prices... it hasn't affected me personally. Now gas here is well under $2/gal but I confess I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I don't expect it to stay this low for too long.

Its going to go back up.

For the most part, I support gov. programs for the needy.
So what's my excuse? I'm miserable all the time.

Are you an interstate drug dealer?
-
i'm unemployed currently, can't find anything either.
-

LOL. I wish. There's a lot more money in that than in insurance software and it's a helluva lot more exciting too.
But the economy mess has actually helped our business--one of our products is a program that tracks ratings of the top 500 financial companies and we average out the ratings with what we call the "Comdex" ranking. Interest in that product in particular has skyrocketed recently.

My 401k is in the toilet but I still have a job, a house, and can provide for my family.
Things could be worse so I'm very grateful.

Gas prices will go back up after the holidays. Can you imagine what would happen if gas prices stayed $4.00 per gallon through the holidays? You would see retailers and malls closing all over the country in 2009.
-
They asked obama if he thought he could fix the economy, his answer was if he could't
then he would nig..er rig it.

They will get it one way or another, thru our taxes.

Benz, you're banned for 30 days. You know this, you guys posted the pm on the board so don't pretend you don't. Ron also knows you are banned for 30 days. I told you what you need to do and I'll lift the ban. But stop playing stupid and trying to make it look like I'm just deleting your posts to be a dick.
Why is he banned?

Decker, your charity is honorable.
If the gov takes less of my money, I spend more, I give more to family and friends and I make more small contributions to local charities, hospitals, medical causes, etc. The more the gov takes from my hard earned income, the less I will do these things.

I agree. The more disposable income people have the more they spend, invest, donate, and save. It's a lot easier to be charitable when you have something to give vs. when you're living paycheck to paycheck.
And kudos to you, Decker, for your charitable donations. I wonder how much more you could give if that money was initially in your hands vs. a bloated and corrupt politicians?
