Here's one I never understood...Charles Atlas. He is so damn pudgy and underdeveloped, it is a wonder anyone ever purchased his "dynamic tension" program. Guess that is why he advertised in comics, to take advantage of gullible kids. (Not like today, when muscle building programs are sold to "grown ups" in legitimate bodybuilding magazine. ;D )

I am sure that I could develop more muscle using Monty Python's "dynamo tension" techniques than Atlas's program.

-
What were his dietary principles?

i'll bet "dantelis" is much more huge and ripped than Charles Atlas. ::)

very interesting retrospective. Same old garbage over and over to steal money of the most gullible and insecure retards on earth. Tactics didnt even change much over the years.

"When we groove on into town / Charles Atlas, he stops to frown."

i have a bunch of those old bb mags and its nice to think everyone was nice and innocent back then but some of the ads were blatant lies, worse than today, especially the hair loss ones. Think of all the poor dudes who gave sent in their hard earned money. And Charles Atlas wasnt even the biggest or strongest guy around, just marketed himself better. Didnt really no much of anything.
and why did they wear their pants so high back then?

You're damn right! Ever since I discovered Muscletech™ supplements, I have gained muscle 166% faster and cut fat 245% quicker than the leading competitor. Were he still alive and in his prime, I could rip Atlas a new a--hole. ;D

apparantely ads like that were going strong in the 80's and even 90s

I remember those old Charles Atlas ads..."Oh, I wouldn't let it BOTHER you, little boy!" I would have bought the program, but I had already spent my money on x-ray glasses, Sea Monkeys, and that "spud gun" that didn't work.

If u realize that Atlas was around almost a century ago, maybe you might be able to begin to undesrtand why he had such impact.
