Discuss, how much can you do on the lift of all lifts?
Or do you think hyperextensions are just as good?

my traps tend to grow too much from it, it wouldnt be that much of a problem if the rest would grow as hard from it too.
-
I have that same unitard.

I got 405 before, but I thought one of my testes was going to fly off. I don't go above 315 or 335 now.
-
dont even bother. i dont have a show to win, cant get paid for it...so why risk a hernia or something?

Typical excuse for weak people with the posterior chain of a 12 year old. :'(

The rest of your muscles are also big stud.
-
the moment i lift the bar i feel the blood leaving my dick, true story and it freaks me out. I dont dead lift all that often
-
I can hoist up the empty bar for a beastly set of 8 or so.
-
Im trying to get my upper back to catch up to my lower,
Funny how I got a good development with shitty weight,
I think ive done a rack "deadlift" 350 pounds
-
455 lift at a weight of 172. Natural.
-
a shit ton ;)
bench
-
-
Real men don't do deads.

Same here - all hunchback :D
-
450 was my max now i dont go above 360 not counting bar weight
5 4 3 2 1 before adonis rings in with his 225 200 rep shit
-
only 315 for a handful or reps :D
-
At the end of back workouts in the past I'd knock out 400lbs for a few sets of 12 to work the low back, but I never went for a max deadlift.
-
About 465lbs. I am utterly shite at deadlifting because my lower back has been weakened from abusing the exercise in my teens when I first started training. I have never been able to hit the magical 500lb mark. I rarely do deadlifts these days but I love squats and benches.
-
330 at a bw of 220 :'(
-

You've also squatted 400 + FOR REPS, stud. So dead lifting that should not be a problem. ;)

Buddy of mine says you aren't a man unless you can pull at least 200kg (440lbs). "You should be able to pull that just by doing some yard work" :D
I've done 700+ @ about 220lbs.
-
ive done 5 plates for 3 reps, no straps either........ no matter how long ive neglected deadlifts im always able to rep out with 3 plates, 4 plates is a matter of a few weeks,, 5 after a few month,,, tore my hamstring doin a warm up set with only 50k each side of the bar last christmass tho?
id say bench is a better test of strength,,, not many able to chuck up 3 plus plates
-
Best was 511 lbs @ 223 bodyweight.
Right now it's about a 1RM with 480~ because I'm dieting..
-
Best was 540 for 4 - 5 at a body weight of 215 - 220, although I've done 585 off the rack for 3.
-
515 for a single, 495x3 touch and go. weighed just under 220 for each.
i need to stop pulling heavy though, monday getting a paused triple with 455 was hard as hell. :-\

hahah, i felt like a little bitch! pissed me off big time. afterwards i just did some light squats and other stuff to get a "pump" or whatever. it's a good thing my bench workout today went well or i'd have been ultra cheesed. >:(
-
hey if i was worrying about "only" pulling 455 i'd be a lot happier!
don't be too hard on yourself!
-
my problem is i hang out on the PL and training boards with guys like overload, wickedtruth, and lift4size where 455 is a speed set or a warmup, then i lift with a guy that hit 620 last week after a sheiko cycle. i need weaker friends. >:(

People on this forum make 315bench seem like average, when under 1% of the worlds population can do it.
-
My alltime max was 250lbs :D

315 is average. A girl I know pulled 225 with no belt the first time she deadlifted. She was 5'9" and 160lbs. Anyone can pull 315 with a few months of training.

I think that deads are great BUT I also think that good mornings are far better for posterior chain strength.I think if you do good mornings with a suspended bar in a power rack, its much safer, you use more back muscle and you develope more strength to be able to pull bigger weights.I never did regular deads from the floor and ALWAYS pulled over 700 at meets.Id rely on good mornings, reverse hypers and pulls off blocks with bands for speed and open at 700+ every meet.

I meant bench press.
I deadlifted 315 the first time i ever went into a gym and was screwing around.

lol, you're right about that.
true story, a few weeks ago i was benching and when i got to 315 a guy asked me if i needed a spot. totally casually, and not thinking, i said "nah dude, it's only three plates". he looked at me like i was a jackass, and it didn't occur to me until after he left how unbelievably cocky it sounds to shrug off 315 on the bench like "why would i need a spot for that?" :P
yo bilderass, that sounds a lot like dave tate's theory that if your legs are strong enough to jump up onto a curb you should be able to squat 300 pounds. i'm a little skeptical myself. :-X

This guy , conditioning guru, at bodyweight 170 did 495

This is getbig so I woulod say 1,000,000,000lbs for 25 reps!!

At my strongest i was repping 500lbs easily pon last set. Numerous witnesses
Then 2 weeks before a PLing comp got sick. Trained heavy as i was afraid to back cycle, hurt back overtrained, had a shit comp. Only now am i getting strong and feeling good again.
However that happening has created like a mental block on my deads now.

All I have is a couple of face shots. The body sucks too much. :'( Not that the face is handsome. :D
You don't have to look like much to be a strong puller. Look at Ano Turtiainen for example. Or Gary Heisey here:

It was mostly said in a joking manner. But many are afraid of the lift. If guys just invested time into it many would be pulling good weights

I've been doing lots of good-mornings this past year. Less draining than deads; I can load heavy 2-3 times per week.

No you didn't, that would've snapped your tiny feminine 6.5 inch wrists completely in half, skinny. ::)
-
i genuinely did deadlift 330 first time in gym with overhand grip. Then next day i learned about alernating grip and dead 352lbs
-
i deadlift the newspaper off my porch every morning. then I go heavy on sundays.
-
I wasn't a deadlifter but at my peak I did 735. 10 years later some guys in the gym wanted me to do 500 with no warmup. I did it and ended up in bed for days. I don't like the deadlift at all. Never really trained in it or for it and did alot of seated rows though and very heavy shrugs

I know you trained with Ray Mentzer. I know hewas a monster squatter, better than Mike. Did he do any deadlifting around that time?

I bet it's hard to deadlift when you're confined to a rascal.

I actually didn't deadlift then. I was doing this back before Ray's gym. After I blew out my L4 and L5 I gave it up. And his best lifting was squatting. I didn't see him deadlift. He might of in the morning. MaxRep might know

Thanks! How is your back now? What kind of squatt program was he on? Did he still train on the HD system, or was it something else, more casual? Did you see him do the reported 900 for a double? Did he do AtG or parallel?
