How much tuna do you eat per week? Is mercury a concern to you?
The Environmental Working Group actually made a calculator that allows you to determine how much tuna you can eat per week.
Check it out at: http://www.ewg.org/tunacalculator (http://www.ewg.org/tunacalculator)
You just enter your bodyweight and it tells you how many ounces/cans you can eat per week, both of albacore and light tuna. I've heard from other sources that it is safe to eat much more.

Personally, I usually eat 2 cans of light tuna per DAY, yet this calculator suggests I only eat no more than 3 cans per WEEK! I don't know where they got their numbers, but calculations a couple years ago suggested I can eat about 17 cans per week before I'm over.
??? Big difference--makes me skeptical on their numbers.
How many cans of tuna do you eat per week? Of what concern is mercury to you?

:P NONE :P
-
around 500-700 grams per day,
-
around 500-700 grams per day,
That's around 9-13 cans per day. Impressive feat.
That's about where I end up per week.
-
i cant stomach the stuff
so none!
although i like sushi tuna!
-
That thing says I can only eat 1.5 cans of albacore or 4 cans of light tuna a week??
LMAO, that usually last me two days. :D
I'm as good as dead. :'(
-
Anywhere from 7-14 per week...
-
0, i can't stand that shit.
-
tuna, there is no way to make that shit taste good!
-
Probs about 14 cans if I'm training.

If you can introduce me to some healthy foods that do taste good, it would be greatly appreciated!
Fruit tastes great, but everything else tastes "routine."
-
you don't have to eat tuna. In fact some here at GB live on McDonalds and candy bars and are fucking ripped.

Of course, but I'd rather heat a few REAL cheesburgers than only one from McDonalds.
In fact, junk food tastes horrible. The high-calorie things I like are things like Fettucine Alfredo (my favorite), chicken and fish with breading, etc.... But, then your calories get taken up with the extra shit that was added. I'm seeking simple ways to make the routine foods taste better. Like, can we mix certain healthy foods together to make them more interesting? Stuff like that.

2-3 cans a day

Yes there is 8)
If you eat tuna alone, use lots of barbeque spice and maybe chili pepper too.
Another tip is: Pasta and tuna
fry the tuna in olive oil in a pan, makes it a little crunchier (or just warm it in the microwave) put black pepper on it. Put it in a bowl or plate together with the pasta, put a little olive oil on the pasta and white pepper. Put LOTS of ketchup (the good kind) on everything and mix together :D

According to FDA health standards, you can safely eat 22.8 ounces of Light tuna tuna per week (assuming that every can of tuna has an average amount of mercury*). That's 3 and three quarters cans of tuna.
Usually eat 2 4oz cans a day for lunch...Am I going to die?
... lol
-
none
maybe sometimes , I would say one in a month
-
None - I use cod for my fish protein source.
-
I eat 2 - 3 cans a day
I put it in the microwave for so long that all the water evaporates and it's like hard and dry
like dry steak
I hope I'm not destroying the protein content, it's the only way I can get it down

Good post, Bobby, great ideas!
I've never heard of using barbeque spice and chili pepper with it, but come to think of it that's probably decent.
I'll try that pasta idea, too. I used to mix canned tuna with ramen (REMOVE THE BROTH) and it tasted pretty good.
Thanks for that.

Toss a little salsa in there or lemon.

I don't eat tuna

Yesterday I ate 300 grams of tuna straight, had nothing else in the house, mixed it with a huge amount of dijon mustard and I must say I've never eaten that much tuna with such ease as yesterday. The chili pepper sounds great too! Basically everything spicy that masks the taste will work

I haven't made this recipe in a hundred years, but when I did, everyone loved it ~ even the tuna haters. There's a ton of room for tweaking to your nutritional needs (ie; more tuna, less rice, less cheese, more eggs, remove the yolks, etc...)
Tuna Muffinettes
2 C cooked rice
2 cans tuna (drained)
1/2 C shredded cheese (chedder)
chopped black olives (optional)
Chopped onions to taste
1 T parsley flakes (optional)
1 t season salt
2 beaten eggs
2 T milk
Combine all ingredients
Put into greased muffin tins and bake @375 for 15 mins.
Serve with a lemon butter sauce drizzled on
(little melted butter, some lemon juice, season salt and parsley)

Try that with pickle relish too. It's pretty good. Then if you want some carb, mash up a cooked sweet potato in there too.

i've been putting albacore in left over greenbean casserole from turkey day, not bad
