Title: The Fight Rickson Feels Fedor Lost
Post by: Benny B on November 29, 2008, 07:15:26 PM
Kind of looks like it to me too.  :-\ Arona is definitely juiced. Fedor's greatest asset is his ability to stay calm...he was mounted several times and Arona had his back with the hooks in early on, but Fedor never panicked and got out of those situations.

Anyway...I never watched this fight before in its entirety until I just saw a new interview with Rickson where he mentions it.

Part 1

Arona was a one trick pony in this fight - attack Fedor's crotch and lay & pray...

aronas stand up aint real bad but he tends to keep his chin high when he strikes, hes a tough dude though and if his stand up got really good he could dominate imo, rickson is awesome but he tends to be biased when it comes to brazilian fighters,i dont blame him i guess cause its only natural to want your own to win

Arona's a monstah.  About 5'9 tall, and 5'1 wide.  Each finger is like a cucumber.  He was doing autograph signing at an OTM.

What did Fedor do in the first two rounds? Was Arona ever really in trouble?  :-\ You can tell Arona didn't even feel the 3rd round was necessary.

Steroids work.

and where did Fedor got in trouble???

this fight was really close that is a fact...but if punches could be throw in the face on the ground, Arona would have beeing smashed....

Uhh...watch the fight again, moron. He gave up his back and was vulnerable to being choked out a couple of times.  ::) He also was mounted on several occasions. Granted he got out of those situations, but who wins rounds when one is dominate and the other is defending?  ???

Coulda, woulda, shoulda...fact is Fedor never did much of anything.

My goal isn't to change your mind, just to state that Rickson (and now me) sees it differently.

Calm down kiddies, I still think Fedor's the best on the planet right now. Every great champion in virtually every sport has one a questionable decision or two.

well, first i was not upset or angry about your opinions...just making some argument there...chill out!

second, i know this can be very personal, but for me if you gave your back or let a guy like Arona mount you and STILL get out of it somewhat easily, for me that can count a lot of points in a fight...When i watched that, i did have a f*cking idea of who Fedor was or even less what he would become, and i knew Arona for years...even at that time i think Fedor deserved for the points i described above...

but well, it was a good fight despite everything
