I agree they should at the end of each year have an old school grand prix........... trophy, cash and label baddest a$$ for a shot at the title in that weight division against the current champ to bring in that next year with a bang.

dana aint having it...he'd rather "string out" fights that would be grand prix worthy and headline those fights on whack ufc cards monthly (PPV) in a nutshell.

good idea. I like it. won't happen.

I've been saying this for years...that's one thing that made pride so amazing!!! (amongst others)

UFC could get around the retarded athletic commission bullshit by hosting it in Japan or Europe.

would be awesome!

a big reason the ufc stopped the tournament format was the guys that everyone wanted to see fight usually ended up hurt or they where to battered to fight at their best from the previous 2 or 3 bouts they had.thats why they made the superfights cause people felt jipped when they would go to a ufc with say ken and royce in different brackets and everyone wanted to see them meet at the end to see who was the best, but rember ken got hurt fighting felix lee mitchell and royce got hurt and exhausted from battling kimo,so you ended up with steve jennum against harold howard, whoopie adee doo,i really didnt care to see that match.then they stopped the tournaments all together and everyfight was kinda like a superfight and the fans and myself loved it.back then royce, ken, don frye, tank, kimo ect had alot tougher road imo cause they had to fight 3 or 4 times in one night bare knuckled with no rounds, thats toughness imo.i understand the athletes have gotten way better these days but royce, ken, tank and the crew where the true pioneers of the sport that paved the way for all these guys making money now and its the reason we can sit here and discuss a sport that we really love,i really love it anyway.once you train bjj/mma and start to understand the concepts its one of the most rewarding things youll ever do,it becomes a lifestyle and the friends you make in the academy usually become your best friends.thanks for reading this everyone
