When I discovered Mike Mentzer I became a huge fan. He and A. Jones change my entire view on training.
While going to UCLA in the 1990's I would train at Gold's Venice since it was on the way. Mentzer was a trainer there and Don Ross, whom I knew through a mutual friend, introduced us. Although Mike was far passed his prime this had no effect on the magnificence of his mustache. Bluto does not exaggerate, his glorious stache is truly breathtaking in person. Now, I'm no expert in mustaches having had dismal success in cultivating my own but I'm no slouch. I've seen some of the best. There was Grymkowski prancing around peddling his new clothing line, Corney (though not at his best) once made an appearance, I even had a quick side view of Roger Callard. Hell, even Ray Mentzer could more than hold his own. But none could compare to the true cosmic majesty of Mike Mentzer's stache. It even made up for his weasely, nasal, monotone voice (which was a huge disappointment during our meeting as it almost destroyed the image I had of him). I just tried to focus on his stache and recall the distant image of the days when he had those huge, balloon, ham hock, arms.

I live in Redondo Beach at the time. Just a couple of miles from Mike. I was shocked when I saw a little pic of him in the Daily Breeze reporting his death.

PIP Mike. You made your mark and will not be forgotten.

I don't know if Bluto is a loser. The 32,500 post in four years is a bit creepy. That's like, what? Over 20 post a day everyday. And I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that he probably has a gimmick account or two -- which increases his true post count to pathological levels. But say what you want about Bluto, the man  knows his mustaches.

my point exactly. The two weirdest people in california during the 1980s. Both had a mental breakdown, david paul managed to be the less weird one because he keeps up on his photography while his brother makes Knight of the Light videos on Youtube about 10 times a day. They both thought that evil men were out to get them since their movie careers failed.
