MMAjunkie has learned that two new fights have officially been added to the FEG FieLDS Dynamite!! 2008 event which takes places December 31st in Saitama, Japan. One of the two fights announced is the highly anticipated and unofficial LW GP final between Japanese grappling phenom Shinya Aoki and the hard hitting American, Eddie Alvarez. These two were originally supposed to meet at the finals of the Dream Lightweight Grand Prix but Alvarez had to bow out after a grueling match against Tatsuya Kawajiri. Alvarez was replaced by the man he beat to get to the semi finals, Joachim Hansen. The finals turned out to be a rematch of an earlier fight held in the now defunct Pride organization, which Aoki won by gogoplata. That was one of the first times, if not the first, that a gogoplata had been used to finish a fight. The rematch was short lived as Hansen quickly dominated and TKOed Aoki in the opening minutes making him the first ever Dream Lightweight champion as well as the Lightweight Grand Prix champion.
Another match that has been officially announced today is a matchup between K-1 and Pride star mark Hunt vs. K-1 legend Jerome Lebanner. Hunt looks to snap a three-fight MMA losing streak which have all come against top competition(Barnett and Fedor in 2006 and a quick submission loss to Alistar Overeem in 2008). Hunt's opponent, Jerome LeBanner, is coming off a TKO(arm injury) loss to eventual K-1 World Grand Prix champion Remy Bojasky. The arm injury that LeBanner suffered looked to initially be serious but according to NightmareofBattle:
Even though Le Banner injured his arm at the K-1 event, he will be ready to go as there was no fracture or anything serious like that.
In MMA LeBanner is riding a three fight win streak all via KO against Yoshihiro Akiyama, Jimmy Ambriz and Alan Karaev. The two K-1 vets will be fighting in an MMA match.
Here is how the year end event is shaping up to look like.:
MMA RULES :
Middleweight: Kazushi Sakuraba (24-11-1) vs. Kiyoshi Tamura (32-13-2)
Lightweight: Joachim Hansen (19-7-1) vs. Gesias Cavalcante (14-2-1)
Heavyweight: Jerome Le Banner vs. Mark Hunt
Lightweight: Eddie Alvarez (15-1) vs. Shinya Aoki (18-3)
K-1 RULES :
Middleweight: Gegard Mousasi (24-2-1) vs. Musashi (49-28-5-1)
Lightweight: Tatsuya Kawajiri (22-5-2) vs. Kozo Takeda (43-18-7)
K-1 KOSHIEN RULES:
U-18 Tournament Semifinals: HIROYA (9-1) vs. Shota Shimada (3-0)
U-18 Tournament Semifinals: Ryuya Kusakabe (2-0) vs. Koya Urabe (2-0)
U-18 Tournament Finals: Winner of HIROYA/Shimada vs. Winner of Kusakabe/Urabe
Expect more fights to be added soon in typical Japanese fashion, at the last second.
Also of note is that apparently negotiations between FEG and Korean star Yoshihiro Akiyama have ceased for the time being:
FEG president Sadaharu Tanigawa said that negotiations with Akiyama have stopped. He said that they gave Akiyama a list of around 10 candidates, but Akiyama himself refused participation. The reason is still a mystery. He also said that this stop of negotiations is for Dynamite!!, there have been no talk about DREAM for 2009 yet.
Bad news for FEG and Dream. Akiyama is/was one of their best fighters and most importantly one of their biggest draws.

Two beasts in JLB and Hunt. Who will take it to the ground? Methinks JLB. He has pretty good GNP and Hunt has NO GUARD to speak of.
-
Going to be a hell of a war between Aoki and Alvarez. UFC shoulda picked both of those guys up when they had the chance.
which Aoki won by gogoplata
A GOGOPLATA. Thats amazing. I have tried a few of those in practice and I tell you, it's almost damn impossible to get a chance to pull one off. You gotta feel pretty foolish if you are Hansen and got sub'ed with a gogoplata. And Hansen really made him pay for it this time.

Nobody. This will be a stand up war that will end in the first round, KO by Hunt.

I would love to see those two go at it like Don frye and the big Jap.
Now that would be entertainment

Haha, great stuff.
I see Hunt winning this one.
-
If memory serves me correctly Mark hunt knocked out Banner in 2001 in the 2nd rd and went on to win the World K1 title that year (the same tournament i think) very interesting to see who comes though this time as the 2 of them are @ the tail ends of their respective fight careers

Pride FC 2006 Open Weight grand Prix winner Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (23-6-2) will indeed compete at Fields Dynamite!! at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on December 31.
He will take on the 7’2” Hong Man Choi (1-1) in a heavyweight match under K-1 rules, according to K-1.kr.
It’s clearly not the fight that fans expected — Cro Cop was supposed to rematch Alistair Overeem on the stacked New Year’s Eve card to settle their score once and for all. However, Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG) recently pushed it to a different card to be held at some point down the road in 2009.
The pair first collided at DREAM 6.back in September, which resulted in a controversial “No Contest.” “Demolition Man” delivered several illegal groin strikes during the bout, leaving the UFC washout writhing in pain on the canvas.
Overeem — who appeared to be winning the fight before it was halted — thought it was all an act and called for an immediate rematch. He continues to allege that Cro Cop is ducking him — a charge that the Croatian vehemently denies.
Whatever … it’s time to move on.
Cro Cop has not looked right in about two years. The once-feared striker has battled injuries, appearing listless and lost since leaving Pride FC almost exactly two years ago. Perhaps a battle against the “Techno Goliath” can help him recapture some of that swagger heading into the New Year.
For what it’s worth, Overeem is expected to tangle with dangerous Russian striker Sergei Kharitonov on this same card.
Fields Dynamite!! is the New Year’s Eve supershow featuring a smorgasbord of fighters under the umbrella of FEG coming together on one night to try and kick the crap out of each other. It will showcase participants from DREAM, K-1, K-1 MAX and K-1 Koshien, Fields Dynamite!!, featuring a wide variety of fighting styles and compelling match-ups.
Here is the scheduled card to date:
MMA RULES :
Heavyweight: Jerome LeBanner (3-1-1) vs. Mark Hunt (5-4)
Heavyweight: Alistair Overeem (29-11) vs. Sergei Kharitonov (15-3)**
Middleweight: Kazushi Sakuraba (24-11-1) vs. Kiyoshi Tamura (32-13-2)
Lightweight: Joachim Hansen (19-7-1) vs. Gesias Cavalcante (14-2-1)
Lightweight: Eddie Alvarez (15-1) vs. Shinya Aoki (18-3)
K-1 RULES :
Middleweight: Gegard Mousasi (24-2-1) vs. Musashi (49-28-5-1)
Heavyweight: Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (23-6-2) vs. Hong Man Choi (1-1)**
Lightweight: Tatsuya Kawajiri (22-5-2) vs. Kozo Takeda (43-18-7)
K-1 KOSHIEN RULES:
U-18 Tournament Semifinals: HIROYA (9-1) vs. Shota Shimada (3-0)
U-18 Tournament Semifinals: Ryuya Kusakabe (2-0) vs. Koya Urabe (2-0)
U-18 Tournament Finals: Winner of HIROYA/Shimada vs. Winner of Kusakabe/Urabe
**Bout not confirmed by FEG
Stay tuned as this massive card continues to come together.

This fight was confirmed CroCop commented on it.
-
I truly hope Mirko gets his fire back. At one point he was almost as feared as Fedor. I will always root for CroCop, no matter who he fights. Unless it's Fedor, then I'm torn. I personally think he was depressed from coming off steroids after coming to the UFc and that is why he lost the fire. I still think he can be very dangerous.
-
"Mirko Cro Cop has had some spectacular finishes but he has been pretty boring in his last few fights. I’m not afraid of him, I know he’s a very smart fighter but I intend to take him down and quickly finish the fight".
When asked if Mirko can catch him with the LHK, the Korean simply answered:
"That’s impossible."

In one of the strangest bout announcements in recent memory, K-1 has announced that the larger-than-life Bob Sapp (9-3-1) has agreed to face Japanese anime character Kinniku Mantaro.
Or rather Japanese wrestling standout Akihito Tanaka (0-0) wearing a Kinniku Mantaro mask.
The bout will take place at the year-ending FieLDS Dynamite!! 2008 event at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
The 350-pound Sapp was last in action in February. The 36-year-old suffered a 55-second TKO loss to Jan Nortje while fighting under the Strikeforce banner.
Sapp has been a staple of the Japanese MMA scene since his debut in 2002. Having competed for PRIDE and K-1, the bout with Mantaro/Tanaka will be Sapp's fourth appearance on a New Year's Eve card.
Tanaka is a seven-time All-Japan Wrestling champion. Despite the odd choice of a representing an anime character in his MMA debut, Tanaka is considered a legitimate heavyweight prospect.
While additional bouts are expected to be announced, the current official card for the event includes:
"Kinniku Mantaro" vs. Bob Sapp
Hong Man Choi vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic
Daisuke Nakamura vs. Hideo Tokoro
Artur Kyshenko vs. Yoshihiro Sato*
Semmy Schilt vs. Siala "Mighty Mo" Siliga
Eddie Alvarez vs. Shinya Aoki
Mark Hunt vs. Jerome Le Banner
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Kiyoshi Tamura
Gesias "JZ" Calvancante vs. Joachim Hansen
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Kozo Takeda*
Gegard Mousasi vs. Musashi*
Hiroya vs. Shimada Shota*
Kusakabe Ryuya vs. Urabe Koya*
* - Fight will be conducted under K-1 rules

It may not involve anime, but the latest rumored bout for the year-ending FieLDS Dynamite!! 2008 certainly involves two characters.
According to Alistair Overeem's official website, the "Demolition Man" will meet former K-1 heavyweight champion Badr Hari in a K-1 rules match at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
The bout has yet to be officially announced, but the report claims it will be the first of a planned two-fight series with Hari.
The full post is reproduced, unedited, below.
The discussion was who would fight under whos rules first and Alistair stepped up first! Alistair will fight Badr Hari at K1 Dynamite 31 december under K1 rules! Since Badr Hari challenged Alistair he sees no other option than cause another demolition and knock Badr Hari out! Both fighters agreed to fight in MMA rules early 2009!
Overeem and Hari have both found themselves at the center of controversy in recent months, so the bout could have an interesting feel of villain vs. villain.
Overeem was involved in a no contest with Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at DREAM.6 in September. The Dutch fighter landed several knees to Filipovic's groin throughout the fight. The strikes eventually rendered Filipovic unable to continue, and the fight was declared a no contest due to the illegal nature of the strikes.
Overeem and Filipovic have had a continued war of words since the incident, and it was initially believed the pair would meet on this card. Filipovic will indeed appear in the event, but against South Korean giant Hong Man Choi.
Hari recently found himself in hot water with K-1 after his performance in the organization's World GP 2008 Final earlier this month. After defeating Peter Aerts and Errol Zimmerman to earn a place in the night's finals, Hari was disqualified for illegal strikes to his downed opponent, Remy Bonjasky.
K-1 stripped Hari of his heavyweight kickboxing title and did not pay him for his participation in the event.
Although Overeem vs. Hari has not yet been officially announced, the Japanese-based website Nightmare of Battle is reporting that the bout, along with two to three others, may be announced as soon as tomorrow in order to finalize the Dec. 31 event.
The full card currently includes:
"Kinniku Mantaro" vs. Bob Sapp
Hong Man Choi vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic
Daisuke Nakamura vs. Hideo Tokoro
Artur Kyshenko vs. Yoshihiro Sato*
Badr Hari vs. Alistair Overeem*

Minowaman Returns at FEG FiELDS Dynamite!! 2008 .................. against Zimmerman ( what kinda match up is this ??? )
Yet another fight was announced today for the absolutely monster FiELDS Dynamite!! 2008 year end event. According to Nightmare of Battle it was made official today that Minowaman, real name Ikuhisa Minowa, would be facing off against K-1 fighter Errol Zimmerman in an MMA rules fight. Minowaman is looking to bounce back from a quick heel hook submission loss at Dream.6 against Masakatsu Funaki. Meanwhile Zimmerman is coming off a pretty good showing at the K-1 World Grand Prix Finals 2008. In the tournament the Dutch-Surinamese kick boxer was able to make it to the second round of the tournament before being KOed by former K-1 World Heavyweight Champion Badr Hari. This will be Zimmerman's first MMA fight and I believe he may be at a disadvantage here.
This fight may seem like an odd match up, but it is far from the oddest match up scheduled for the Dynamite!! 2008 card. Minowa regularly fights in the Welterweight range yet he loves taking on physically bigger opponents. He's taken on Zulu, Butterbean, Cro Cop, Wanderlei Silva, Giant Silva and a slew of larger fighters. Zimmerman will be no different than his previous opponents seeing as Zimmerman was is listed at 238lbs. Minowa will definitely be at an advantage here. He has a wealth of submission experience while Zimmerman has almost no time to train for take down defense, let alone submission defense. If the fight goes to the ground Zimmerman will be like a fish out of water and Minowa will definitely try to capitalize on a submission. Minowa is very well versed in submissions and he has been able to submit much larger opponents.
This fight is another attempt in a long line of fight that are meant as ratings grab by FEG. Minowa is a pretty popular fighter in Japan due to his crazy in ring antics and his overall crazy attitude (Any guy who trains for a fight by dodging baseballs thrown from pitching machines and racing planes is pretty crazy to me). His fighting style also caters to the Japanese fans. A lot of what Minowa does is risky, but entertaining to see. From the flying double leg kick to the front roll take down and various other wrestling moves the guy is as much a showman as he is a fighter. Minowa holds a record of 40-29-8 and while he is not the best of fighters he does hold some pretty impressive wins over such opponents as Don Frye, Phil Baroni, Kimp Leopoldo and Gilbert Yvel. Not bad for a guy who started out his MMA career going 1-8-1. The most telling match from Minowa's fight history is his fight against another K-1 fighter Stephen Leko. In 2003 Leko was on a 6 fight win streak in K-1 and when he fought Minowa in the Pride Shockwave 2004 card he was easily submitted via heel hook by the smaller Japanese fighter. I really wouldn't be surprised if Minowa pulls it off again against Zimmerman.
Because of this odd match making the fight will be taken in the previously unheard of (at least to me) Dream Open Weight division.
-
Hahaha I actually think Zimmerman Minowa could be an entertaining fight. Zimmerman is an absolute beast and he's only 22. It'll be interesting to see how he does in a MMA rules match. I'm so hyped for this event, I mean theres 18 total fights with 14 or 15 of them being absolutely crazy matchups. Definitely has the potential to be the best card of the year.

Dude that is wearing it is supposed to be pretty good.... I just wanna know how this is going to play out. What if Sapp cuts him inside the mask and it doesn't show for a while? Or what if Sapp gets poked in the eye by the mask?
okay those are bad examples, but there is something wierd about a guy wearing a fucking halloween costume in January and fighting MMA in it makes it even more wierd. Fuck I didn't know the Japanese even knew what Halloween was, someone needs to tell them they are a few months late.

Joachim Hansen vs. Gesias Cavalcante canceled
An anticipated non-title rematch between Joachim Hansen and Gesias Cavalcante has been scratched from Wednesday’s co-promoted K-1 and Dream extravaganza “Premium Dynamite 2008” at the Super Saitama Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Moments before the event was to begin, Fighting & Entertainment Group officials entered the ring and announced that the featured lightweight bout had been cancelled.
Hansen, 29, apparently did not pass pre-fight medicals, and FEG officials said the Norwegian had been hospitalized for a "head injury."
The Dream lightweight champion was present at the official press conference on Tuesday to promote the bout with Cavalcante. Hansen bested the aggressive 21-year-old Cavalcante via spilt decision in 2004.
Cavalcante (14-2-1, 1 NC) also addressed the audience to apologize for the cancellation. The Brazilian told the crowd that he sympathized with Hansen (19-7-1), as he’d undergone is own share of injuries and bout cancellations last year when he tore the ACL in his knee.
