Title: What benefit is there between a chicken breast and a protein supplement?
Post by: bodybuilder1234 on December 14, 2008, 11:01:32 AM
Why not just drink 5 protein shakes to get your daily needs of protein and eat the rest of the calories from burger king?

Same applies for cutting too

theres no benefit, one is not better than the other, simply = they are different and best utilized in different situations.

various types of whey protein are much better around the workout while meat sources seem to be much better during the rest of the day. main reason = rate of digestion.

the other part abouit source of calories is utter nonsense.

whey has some unique protein fractions that increase gluthatione. Id go with whey, but obviously balancing sources is important.

Difference is rate of digestion and what nutrients it is combined with. Protein shake, like whey protein, is predigested and very fast absorbed. If 50+ grams hits your bloodstream within half an hour much of it is filtered out because the body can not use it. You want nutrition to trickle into your system at a constantly rate. Whole foods digest much slower than pure whey protein.

Are you saying the belief that the source of calories matters is utter nonsense,

or that the belief that the source of calories doesn't matter is utter nonsense?

One is a "supplement",the other whole food.

You are supposed to eat whole food, and "supplement" (key word here) your diet with protein "supplements" (there`s that word again).

He did not answer it perfectly............try drinking 5-6 shakes a day without solid food and see what the results are like.

Different proteins have different biological values and you should eat a variety of protein sources.

Too many people supplement their their supplements with food instead of the other way around.

Solid food is always better............protei n supps are conveinient and good at post-workout (whey) but totally unecessary.

that one.

of course the source of calories will make a difference. and, the source of calories will determine whether thats a positie difference or a negative one.

for example = 100 calories from trans fats compared to 100 calories from monounsaturated fats.
