Considering most guys done weight more than 185lbs a 300 bench is pretty good IMO.
In my gym only 3-4 guys under 185lbs can do it

3-45s on each side on set press/leverage machine. that's about 270 which i can do for 2-3 reps w/wo spotter...so i guess 300 is possible. havent tried anything above. dont mess with flat bench anymore.

Well, I don't have the link, but he went on about how he shared a particular structural Irish build with his countrymen/women -and he detailed it from head to toe! - and described it as troll-like and said 18" calves was a common feature. Now knowing a bit about Luke and his penchant for xenobiology, I took it tongue-in-cheek. But he might have been serious. ;D

I know teh type. And yes there are so many short stocky troll like people.
My friend who i work with has 19" calves. Never trained them in ghis life. He is 5'6 and so thickly built and set its unreal. Massive wrists forearms teh lot. That is one tpe.
Anothe rcommon type of person is teh typical celt. short and stiocky but fdast and robust. My dad is like this.

300 pounds bench press is impressive for a 170-180 pounds natural guy for sure but not for a natural guy who is over 190 pounds.. so it depends on your body weight and also how much time you have been training.. when i was 19 i was less than 160 pounds and was easily doing it for one rep.. few years ago i was 180 pounds and i did it for 3-4 full reps (without any support).. i am 29 years now and my weight is around 170 pounds and i believe i can do it for at least 2 reps if i try..
any guy who takes steroids can do it easily for more than 10 reps.. one of my friends who is naturally big was doing it for few reps before he used steroids and he was less than 20 years at that time.. then after he used steroids he went up to do 450 bench press for one full rep!!!..

Most people are not even close to being able to bench 200 lbs.
Average Joe will struggle with 150 lbs.
And a lot of women, even women who regularly workout, will struggle with as little as 70-80 lbs in the benchpress.
Don't you meet regular people everyday in your work as a PT?
With that being said, I believe most males could be trained to bench 300 lbs naturally. The exceptions are guys like Mower, ie rare specimens.

no problem here. the guys i lift with are mostly in the 325-385 max range, and a raw competing troupe lifts of four guys with maxes between 430 and 515. which is hilarious because i lift at a YMCA.
