So often in MMA we're treated to fake rivalries and controversies designed to create interest in a fight. At UFC 92, we get to see two legends that really hate each other go to war. Wanderlei Silva promises to hurt Rampage here (http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=videoPlayer.home&gid=16575), and Rampage predicts a sour holiday season for Silva here(below the Wanderlei video)
There's something disturbing about this fight, but I can't really put my finger on what it is. Part of it is that we have no idea which Rampage to expect, but if he shows up in top form, this is going to be a brutal fight. Both men are in can't-lose situations, but one has to.
Damn these two really do hate each other, it seems like Wanderlei just wants to let shit happen so he can shut up Quinton. It sounds like Quinton is just pulling his loud mouth shit, but he seems pretty damn serious about avenging his losses.. I don't blame the guy though cause he GOT FUCKED UP THE LAST 2 TIMES!
-
I think its a toss up really.
It ALL depends on Wanderlei really, he's striking is all wrong for Rampage, however Wanderlei has slowed down abit and Rampage is right that Wanderlei is not what he use to be but dont over look him.
I think Wanderlei should take his time, break him down with leg kicks...mix up his attack. If Wanderlei stands and trades with those hooks he's asking to get KO'd.
I like Wanderlei by decision, I dont think he will KO Rampage this time but we shall see.....
-
rampage could show up 1,000% for this fight...if he hasn't learned how to defend the clinch expect the same results.
Toe to Toe rampage ko's silva imo. but like the other fights expect silva to clinch and control quinton once again for that brief moment to land a nice knee inside and do damage and take the steam out of rampage.
if wandy fights rampage how he fought chuck I see rampage walking through him
either way I just don't see this fight going past 2 rds either way. sombody is getting ktfo. LOL
-
I dont think Rampage gets out of the first round. I get the impression that Rampage has a bully mentality in the ring, and once he cant impose his will, he gets frustrated and has a hard time gutting it out. In the Griffin fight, he did show some guts by battling even though he had the leg injury- He's tough as nails and skilled, but I think he's more apt to go for the quick ko by standing and trading instead of having a strategy which will not work with Silva at all.

nailed it. rampage rides pretty hard on his ability to intimidate. don't get it wrong, he won the fight with liddel even before they stepped into the cage. his last two fights were wandy were just bizarre because it was like once he realized he wasn't going to get in wandy's head it was all downhill from there.
i'm predicting yet a third meal for rampage consisting of a fuckton of wanderlei's knees.

Looping punches with short arms is a good formula for Wandy getting KOed. Wandy will have a hard time cutting Rampage off in the cage (a lot bigger, no corners). I think Rampage has figured out that he doesn't want to clinch with Wandy. Wandy should set up takedowns with leg kicks. If Wandy can get Quinton down, he would molest him from top.

no way this will go to decision.

I give the edge to Wandy...
the longer it goes the more Page is gonna come to expect a beating like he took in the first two fights

Alright, I will be the odd man here then.
First of all, both guys are two favorite fighters of mine, and I probably consider the Axe Murderer as one of the top 5 of all time right now.
But I think Rampage will simply overpower Wanderlei Silva.
He will overpower him, take him to the ground and just ground and pound the shit out of Silva.
I think Silva will make it to the second round, but that's where it will end.
The knees and the striking of Silva?
I think Rampage can avoid it.
Rampage is underrated IMO, and he underperformed against Griffin but still should've retained the belt. That was a disgusting decision.
Whatever lack of motivation he had before is gone, Rampage wants redemption badly and Silva will pay the price.

ok...........now that was pretty funny !

Quinton has a lot more to prove than Wandy. Rampage's biggest opponent is himself. He screwed himself over by starting that fasting routine prior to the 2nd encounter with Wandy and gassed out, He was doing well until then. Apparently he did it again before the Forest match. The question is how well is Quinton faring mentally. He just had to replace his trainer who also took advantage of him. He had a traumatic mental breakdown + arrest, etc. Now he's facing an opponent that inflicted a brutal beating on him on 2 occasions.
Silva has a lot to bring to the table as well because his performance in the UFC has been less than stellar.
Can he crank up the axe murderer persona to its previous levels?
A lot questions and speculations but we'll soon see who got their game together on fight night.
Both guys are cool so I'm just going to chill out and enjoy the fight
May the best man win.

i give the edge in striking to rampage
i give the power to both equally
i give the ground equally, wandy might be better at submissions but im talking about controlling the downed opponant, quinton handled dan hendo on the ground and hendo,s a awesome wrestler.
aggression is equal imo
rampage has a better chin but wandy recovers fast as hell after hes hurt,so its kinda equal
cardio is gonna determine the outcome imo,if quinton comes with his awesome cardio hell do well, wandys cardio is great also, wandy and chuck where both gassed in that fight but thats cause the pace was insane
so its not fair to judge wandy on that performance
the will to win is high in both men, none of these guys are quitters, you practically have to ko them to end the fight so its equal there also imo
wandys gotta straighten up his punches cause quintons gonna come straight down the pike with those nasty strikes that do damage if wandy starts throwin his looping hooks
overall its gonna be a very entertaining fight imo and i wouldnt blink on this fight

That could happen, however, Rampage took 2 serious ass kickings from Silva back in the Pride days. Go back and watch those fights. Rampage didn't overpower Silva in there last 2 fights. What makes you think Silva will be "overpowered" in this fight?

at first, because Silva isnt the same anymore...a lot of changes in his life (left ChuteBoxe, already lost lots of fights, dont look or fight as the same wanderlei from the old days)...
that and the fact that Rampage got better in this time...so...you do the math

ok it makes a lot of sense for these two to fight again, even though silva brutally knocked out rampage twice ::)
how are those browns doing?

Other than A.Silva/Hendo, this personally is the most anticipated fight of the year for me....

exactly, then what? do they fight a 4th time?
it's pointless to have a 3rd fight when both ended the exact same way
my team is the steelers, the same team you told me would get beaten by the browns at the beginning of the season
and I sure as hell am not a frontrunner

fights in pride (a ring) were stand up oriented, fighting in a cage at least lends to the possibility of it going to the ground more...

i think this is the best card the ufc has put on in years.not sure what fights your talkin about that we probably won't see in 2009 anyway........props 4 repin your home state team by the way.I think if your born and raised somewere and you don't support that team you tend to be a front runner.

No kneeing a down opponent, no soccer kicks to the head, a big cage, harder to cut off someone and initiate the clinch, an athletic commision which drug tests. These are things that will make fight three harder for Wand. (I like both, but am cheering for Wand)
He also throws looping punches with a shorter reach and leaves his chin exposed for the big shot. Quinton's punching is more boxing like, chin tucked, hands high. I see Rampage taking this.
