I was just going with the trend, trying to fit in, bashing you, I have never talked to you before
but you're in a lot of pain and have alot of problems.
Sorry for your wound, you should get it checked out by some other doctors, what is your current one saying?

Its all cool.

Well, I have gotten 2nd opinions from several docs...they all, defer and refer me back to my present doc.

I really believe it is either bad luck or I myself just don't heal very well.

I have been tested for TB, auto immune disorders, blood discrasias, the works.

I will forge onward and endure.

Thanks

You should talk to a specialist in skin and tissue infections from outside your area (ie someone who doesn't know your current doc and therefore doesn't care about pissing him off).

You are thinking of Karposi's Sarcoma...in Aids, this manifests first on the anterior legs...looks like purple splotches.

Not what I have going on.

I cannot find an email in which to insert a pic but here are phone numbers.  If you call and ask to be able to send a pic I would think and hope that someone would give you a valid email in which they can view your arm.

Appointments at Mayo Clinic

Anyone can request an appointment at Mayo Clinic. If a physician referral is required, our appointment staff will advise you. Some insurers require referrals, or may have additional requirements for certain medical care. All appointments are prioritized on the basis of medical need.

Telephone Inquiries
U.S. Patients
Arizona
(800) 446-2279 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mountain time Monday through Friday.

Florida
(904) 953-0853 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday.

Minnesota

HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST FOR AN APPOINTMENT (I'm assuming you live in the US):

https://forms.mayoforms.org/forms/up/mc408606.cfm

The above has a form to fill out and submit.  I would do that first and then call immediately after that.

Thanks for doing this tomorrow.

Friend...it is an enduring problem that is being managed magnificently.

My docs send me emails and give me their home phone numbers.

This is simply a problem that will not easily relent.

What...do you expect magic?

In America, magic does not work.;

this is from one of your articles  ???

In a study published online by the journal Annals of Internal Medicine, the bacteria seemed to be spread most easily through anal intercourse
The new strain seems to have “spread rapidly” in gay populations in San Francisco and Boston, the researchers wrote, and “has the potential for rapid, nationwide dissemination” among gay men.

Title: MOOSEJAY, HERE IS MY BEST MEDICAL ADVICE TO YOU.. (NO BULLSHIT)
Post by: OneMoreRep on December 21, 2008, 07:09:49 PM
Moose,

I wanted to offer you some honest advice since your situation seems very critical at the moment.  I don't know what physician you have visited, but at this point it seems like whatever they are doing isn't doing you very good.

Like I said in my earlier post, the best way to tackle this problem is to:

(A) Have your physician's office run a CBC and pay close attention to the White count, being particular to whether the neutrophil (Indicative of Bacterial infection) or Leukocyte (Indicative of viral infection) count is high.

(B) Culture the wound, see what exact strand is affecting the site locally.

(C) Be aggressive and make sure that your physician prescribes both a strong broad-spectrum antibiotic the likes of Zyvox, that is one of the few antibiotics that can rid your system of bacterial strands as potent as MRSA, and a topical antibiotic cream.

(D) If you are indeed a diabetic (More so leaning on having Diabetes Mellitus), the odds of you having gangrene at that site is probably EXTREMELY high.  You probably have heard this from your physician, but, if not, find out whether your injury can be classified as dry gangrene.  Most patients that have Diabetes Mellitus tend to develop arteriosclerosis due to the clogging of arteries from plaque formed by the excess glucose.

Conclusively, if I had to make a diagnosis based just on the pictures provided and the little information that you have mentioned, I would lean on the fact that as a Diabetic, you probably developed dry gangrene at that site and over the course also picked up a localized infection that only exacerbated the situation.  Truthfully, it looks like a combination of Dry Gangrene and MRSA at the site.  The only reason why I am not certain is because with dry gangrene sooner or later the tissue tends to become black (necrotic), but that doesn't seem to be the case with you.

Either way, like I said before, CBC with a site culture followed with an antibiotic that is specifically effective against whatever bacterial strand is found at the site and then you can tackle it with some antibiotic ointment and dress it thoroughly on a day to day with such things like a Duoderm pad.

If there is anything else I can do to help by way of advice, please let me know.  One thing is to bullshit around on the forums and make fun of people, but with this case it's gotten pretty serious and while I personally don't know you, it would suck for you to have that limb or portion of it amputated due to negligent care.  If I come up with anything else, I will make sure to let you know.

Good luck man,
"1"

P.S. Wet Gangrene can also be the cause of it and you don't have to be a diabetic to get wet or dry gangrene.  While diabetics are more prone to suffering from dry and wet gangrene, the same can happen to a person that suffers from a crushing injury that restricts blood flow to the site.  Either which way, be careful and make sure that whatever is at the site doesn't become systemic.

If you provide me with the diagnosis that your doctor provided you with, I can then put together the pieces and decipher what surgical approach he might be taking in order to treat your condition.

Also, while I don't know your medical history, sometimes secondary disorders might be to blame for the lack of healing/recovery.  I don't know if you suffer from any other conditions that might be compromising your immune system and thus your ability to heal at a normal rate.

Either way, follow your doctor's advice and stay away from any activity that can further jeopardize your arm.

 :D

Little kids are born deformed, people die of terrible diseases, and there are earthquakes and tornadoes that cause havoc. This proves that we are on our own. There is no God! How do you answer that?

Three philosophers are seated in a plane. The first man said that he heard that during the early hours of the night, hijackers took over the controls. As he spoke, the plane lunged to the left and thrust a number of passengers against the wall, seriously injuring some of them.

After the second man gained his composure, he said, Because of what just happened, I don't believe that this plane was ever made. Even though his statement didn't make sense, he continued to maintain that the entire plane, with its seats, windows, lighting, air conditioning, engines, etc., happened by accident.

As the third philosopher began to give his thoughts, the plane again lunged to one side. This time it was so violent that many passengers were seriously injured and two elderly people were killed. He was obviously shaken, but was able to share his thoughts about what had happened. He said that despite what was happening on the plane, he thought all was well in the cockpit.

It was then that someone quickly passed a hand-written note to the first man. It read, Hijackers! All to be thrust out of the plane. Parachute under seat. Put it on now. Going to cut the lighting. Be ready to jump! As he read its words, his eyes widened. This confirmed that something was radically wrong. He quickly reached under his seat and put the parachute on, and then passed the note on to the second philosopher.

The second man read the words on the note. He smiled said, This note hasn't used correct grammar. Parachute under seat isn't even a complete sentence With that, he crumpled the note and dropped it to the floor.

The third man, still shaken by what had happened on the plane, picked up the note and read it. He said, It sure looks authentic. It does have the airlines letterhead. What's happening on the plane does add up to something being radically wrong, I think I now believe there is something wrong. However, he then sat in his seat, not bothering to put his parachute on, or even to pass the note on to others!

Here we have three common reactions to the message of the gospel:

Obviously, the first passenger is a genuine convert. He understands that the issue of suffering--disease, pain and death shows that something is radically wrong between God and man. His knowledge of the jump that he must take through the door of death causes him to trust in the Savior.

The second man is an atheist. He uses the issue of suffering to somehow make an illogical leap into the philosophy that there is no God. The thought that the whole of creation, with its flowers, its birds, the sun, the moon, the animal kingdom, the beauty of the seasons, the incredible variety of succulent fruit trees, etc., all happened by accident. The notion that such reasoning borders on insanity doesn't enter his unthinking and sin-loving mind. He doesn't bother to humbly study the warning of Scripture. Instead, he exalts himself above the mind of his Creator, and condescendingly becomes a critic of the Word of God. He maintains it is full of errors and therefore cant be trusted. [See: Why the Atheist doesn't exist and ChristianAnswers.Net's Creation SuperLibrary for evidences for a Creator.]

The third man is an average person. He believes in God. He even believes the Bible. He is easily convinced that something may be wrong between man and God, but he doesn't see his urgent need to put on the Lord Jesus Christ. How do we awaken these two men?

For the answer, lets go back to the plane. The first man simply needs to tell the other two philosophers to look out of the window for a moment, and to think about the 25,000-foot fall. Their knowledge of the unbending law of gravity should kick in, and from there common sense should do the rest. It should cause both men to look under their seat for the parachute.

The issue of suffering is not something the Christian should avoid. It is glaring evidence that man has rejected God; all is not well on board the flight. It works for our cause, not against it. All these things, pain, disease, droughts, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. should cause the thinking person to investigate the claims of the note of God's Word, and see its explanation.

However, the ultimate convincing agent is, of course, the unbending Law of God. It is the knowledge of the Law and the fearful consequences of transgressing its precepts that should cause fear to kick in, and hopefully common sense should then cause the sinner to seek after the Savior, who lovingly died and rose again, so that they might be saved.

Have you tried Maggot therapy MIke??

I know this is used for diabetics with wounds such as these that will not heal----if you have not tried it than I would press your doctors to do it, its been proven succesful and what do you have to lose by doing it

good luck and may God be with you Mike!!!!

Moose, you came to this site and no one had a clue who the f**k you were.

You now come back to the site, all sick and diseased.  However, this time everyone here knows how you operate!

People are very suspicious of you Moose!

The second man read the words on the note. He smiled said, This note hasn't used correct grammar. Parachute under seat isn't even a complete sentence With that, he crumpled the note and dropped it to the floor.

Friend...it is an enduring problem that is being managed magnificently.

My docs send me emails and give me their home phone numbers.

This is simply a problem that will not easily relent.

What...do you expect magic?

In America, magic does not work.;

Neither is your praying.

Ive seen many shows on the effectiveness of maggot therapy and seen it succesfully treat wounds just as bad as yours-----nature is much better at doing things they would could ever hope to be...take a spiders web for example, we could do miracles if we could manufacture such strong material
