Rumor has it that the NPC and possibly IFBB will be adding a "classic type" division to the schedule. It will be a height to weight ratio. They are doing this in an attempt to bring back the classic looking physique. This should be interesting.
-
wow, that'd be a great idea.
any ideas on how they would be breaking this up? and who do u think this would benefit the most ?

This is very encouraging news for many of us! It is the classic look that inspires people.

x2.
Fingers crossed it happens.

Its already been available in Australia at the IFBB amateur contests for a few years.
Fairly popular division.
Good to hear the NPC is giving it a go.
-
Back in the days we discussed with the creation of a Legend's division, didnt work out due the gangs in the bodybuilding industry.
Thats why legends stood at muscle beach
-
That's an awesome idea. I'm sure a lot of specifics will need to be debated and stamped out, but that's a great start!! Perhaps pro bb'ing does have a chance after all.

They've been doing this in the Australian IFBB

Alex,I beleive it`s called "Athletic Physique" division.

Classic Bodybuilding is yet a two years category with 4 divisions in Europe:
- Up to 170 cms, you can weight your height in cms - 100 cms + 2 kilos max. Ex. 168 cms tall can compete with a meximun weight of 70 kgs
- Up to 175 cms the same rule, except + 4 kgs. Ex. 174 cms can compete wirh a maximun of 78 kgs
- Up to 180 cms same too, but + 6 kgs. Ex. 176 cms tall can compete with 82 kgs
- More than 180 cms , 7 kilos
This way is not necesary to get much muscle to begin compiting here. In Europe is popular, with hundreds of competitors, after this kind of competition became in weight classes of usual bodybuilding. Itīs like a first step to competition.
-
If it was a first step to competition than it would be nothing wrong with that. But where I live it is the biggest fucking joke. Regular BBs go classic to snatch one more title. Often they enter a regular class and also classic BB class at the same damn show. They might do well in BB but win the classic BB. Therefore they decide that they will stop busting their ass in the gym so hard because classic BB is easier and they keep winning titles.
Classic look? Give me a break. What is a classic look? If you look at the height to weight ratio none of the icons that the classics have would make the limit. Arnold would be way off and even Frank Zane who is supposed to be the idol of classic BB would be over.
-
Is there somewhere we can look to research these claims???
-
classic is a joke.. most will just look like a men's fitness competitor..

I could be wrong, but wouldn't Arnold have fit into that class at 6'2 235?

nope
6'2 is 188cm and 235lbs is 105kg
someone who is 188cm tall can weigh 88kg + 7kg = 95 kg at the most...he's 10kg over
-
YEAH AT ARNOLDS HEIGHT THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE BARELY OVER 200 LBS.. i have seen the classic comps in europe and they are aweful.. sorry.. but, these guys look like fitness models..
-
From the way it sounds (and I could be wrong :-[) it is not going to be guys who are just a little bit bigger than your GQ types. I would hope that they will go a little further with the weight to height ratio.
-
Yo I checked out BB.com, and I could'nt find the pro-hormone "juiced". What company is it by and what do I type in so I can buy the shit?

This is nonsense,
even Frank Zane wouldn't have qualified. He has the ultimate classic physique!
5"9 = 175cm
180 pounds competition weight = 81kg
175-100 = 75
75+4 = 79kg allowed
