Best of luck!
-
that dude could have gotten 6 good reps full range, me thinks
-
i dont think to your nose counts as "deep reps" on shoulder press. And also different smith machines feel different, I've done 225 on one smith machine, shoulder presses, and another i couldnt even do 95, assuming of course the bar actually weighs 45 lbs, which in most cases the smith machine bar only weighs 15 lbs, which is what causes most people to say "i can bench more in the smith than i can regular barbell bench".
-
brutal 16 inch arms.
-
You call that deep? That's a half rep. Also it's easier on a smith machine.
-
Couple things. first off....deep reps my ass. Secondly, that's a smith so that's not 315. pretty strong dude though.
-
Deep ...don't think so!
-
wow his delts look huge. ::)
-
Epic Quarter Reps ::) ::)
-
I would def. have to agree with the above comments you might have wanted to keep the "deep reps" (especially in capitals) out of the title cause those were anything but...

i think he was being sarcastic although those weren't terrible reps, i've seen much worse, the guy is actually very big and strong and has great development, he probably could have gotten 5-6 all the way down.
-

gauranteed he's bigger than you.
-
The reps weren't as bad as some of you are making it sound. I lower the bar to about chin level, anything lower kills my shoulders.

exactly, they weren't that bad at all, we used to have these two young guys at my old gym who would do reps literally to the top of their heads and that was on a good day and try to use 275-315 on the free barbell and then they'd do the same thing on behind the necks with 245-265, stupid shit.
-
I agree I use about the same range of motion to avoid any tears....all the way strong guy and serious weight nicely done my man...
-
Shows how bloody strong onlyme is tho, after years wthout proper training he walks back in and does 315 free weight for reps all the way, powerhouse

Why can't I see Youtube videos?
There's just a big gap where the video is supposed to be - any help?

do you have an account on there?
Yes but I've had the account for ages - I though it might be my internet settings but it's only started happening in the last few days or so .

youtube was acting up on me the other day too, no gap but the videos just wouldn't start for me.
-

Yes he is but his shoulders look like shit compares to the weight he moves/
-
I've done 3 plates for 3 full reps on seated delt presses on the smith machine. That was DAMNED hard. Making it to 15 full reps with 3 plates will be very tough. full reps are quite a lot harder.
That being said, I still think he has ok strength and development. Looks better than most lifters.
-
not brutal deep! by the way smith doesnt count 8)
-
yeah buddy
-
was the press in the video deep?? i was expecting deeper??
-
Thats not 315 and far from full reps. I use the smith machine when I first start back doing shoulders heavy. Once I get some strength back I get on the free weight. Usually around 2 weeks.
-
those reps are still working the delts dummy... gotta love these "perfect form" skinny/fat clowns who dont know the first thing about groing muscle

No deep reps but still impressive! Don't listen to all the haters, like this is an easy lift or so ::)
-
I can do exactly what that guy did any day of the week, so I know if he had done full reps he would've gotten about 6-8.
-
All elbow lockout!

Not to talk shit about Ken Lain, but why do guys who lean back and basically turn the movement into an incline BP still call them shoulder presses ?

what the hell incline bench do you train on that has that angle? ???

i think he's talking about people that place their feet so far foward directly in front of them and basically turn their bodies to an angle while doing shoulder presses. Their butts arnt sitting at the 90 degree angle but a few inches forward, which turns it into more of an incline press than a good ole shoulder press. Look at branch warrens video for an example. Theres a big guy at the gym i go to that uses 125 lb dumbbells for shoulder presses but does this move too. I'm not taking away from this guy, thats damn impressive weight either way, but there is a slight difference.

it's a VERY slight difference but i wouldn't call it an "incline press".

Alot of times I'll do shoulder dumbell presses with the adjustable incline bench, put as at the highest angle possible. Yeah it's not really a true shoulder press, and it probably works the front delts more than the rear, but I find it easier to get the dumbells into place for a lower rep set, and then I'll just finish off my shoulders with a couple of sets of Hammer Strength behind the neck to hit the rear delts a little.

hey i do the same thing man with setting the incline bench at the highest angle possible. It's about as close to 90 degrees as it can get. Did it earlier this morning. But thats all my gym has to work with. I cant stand to sit backwords on a preacher bench and use that for a shoulder press, it kills my lower back for some reason.

My back has felt alot better since I started doing them this way. You just have so much more support and it feels like a better angle the way your how back is covered. I also love all the tension it puts on my frontal delts, you can handle a little more weight this way. I figure with, the finishing couple sets of behind the neck hammer presses, and then by alternating my shoulder workout with a good 4 sets of standing barbell presses the next week, it allows me to cover the whole shoulder area AND my lower back just doesn't feel like shit the next day.

probably, but for what gain?- maybe shoulder damage.
he did just enough ROM to work his delts.
i dont see anything wrong with his form at all in fact. He's making the most of his energy and keeping it safe- as well as limiting it to the working group.
this full range crap is just myth. in fact its counter productive.

for once we agree.
-
what the hell incline bench do you train on that has that angle? ???
LOOK at the angle of his body, he's almost in an incline position, as far as my eyes can tell. not taking anything away from the guy, that weight would crush me

Why on earth would you think slighly varying the angle of an overhead press is going to hit your rear delts, which are hit with pulling exercises?

You couldn't press either amount so your opinion is meaningless.

oh wow, you got me, you fucking assclown.
-
DAMN...Strong Dude
Does a good shoulder press...not too far down...avoids over extending the shoulder and causing serious injury.
I just love how the ASS CLOWNS on this board are condemning the man on his form and I would bet anything not one of the CONDEMNERS could do a good shoulder press with one plate let alone three. BTW All smiths bars weigh 25 pounds. There is a 15 pound counter weight on all machines unless the gym owner removes the counter weight.
