5. 43 singles released of which almost all have reached top 20 on the billboard chart.
Who is this band? Metallica. I have spoken!
There may be a few bands with better statistics then the above, but there won't be too many with much better then that, plus none of them will top Metallica's ball grabbing sound...not possible!
BTW, before those of you who are dying to make the Mustaine claim, let me save you some time. He never recorded a single song with Metallica.
Also, for the one's that don't like "Death Magnetic"...you have filled your heart with a retarded glaze that no sound could save you from.

I've never understood the fascination with the Stones. IMO there is nothing special but to each his own.

Metallica gets #167 on that list with Master of Puppets...

No surprise there. I realize that they are not most peoples favorite...even though they should be IMO. They're perfect Rock/Metal IMO.
Was Black and Justice not on that list? Figured they would be before Puppets since most people like those albums better.

The Beatles were a good band, but I will never in a million years understand how they rank so high in the grand scheme of things in most circles. IT MAKES NO SENSE!

AC/DC is by far the best rock band of all time i just saw them in concert it was amazing the best conert ive been to in my life. i think Angus Young had 6 heart attacks on stage for old dudes they sure can still rock.

Beatles and Stones get the credit because (1) they were the most prominent during the golden age of rock, (2) longevity in the case of the Stones, (3) musicianship of the highest qualiy, production and innovation (Beatles).
Stones suck but they have a huge catalogue. Beatles might sound trite now but not then.
No. 1 in rock would be either Beatles or Zepelin.

I like AC/DC.
The thing about them is, there is nothing they do that is spectacular. Their music is at the simplest form, but they are one of the only bands that have ever made simple perfect...they do "simple" and make it great.

You're right about the Stones...they get credit just for being around so long...but this doesn't necessarily make them great...just means they've been around forever.
The Beatles, the sound is dated because it was so long ago, but they were a quality band...just never have seen the total fascination with them. Metallica, obviously it hasn't been as many years past since they first hit the scene, but IMO their music is not dated at all..."Kill'EM All" and "Puppets" sound just as good today.
As for this thread, maybe I should have titled it differently. IMO, it's hard to put the Beatles and Stones in the same category as Metallica.
