I used to do these a loong time ago for tri's
does anybody else do these
do you find them effective?
-
I haven't done those in years. Now that I'm feeling better maybe I'll throw these in the mix here & there.
-

A little but I always felt a little uncomfortable doing them so I didn't go really heavy. I would kind of use them as a finishing exercise if I remember correctly.
-
i used to do them heavy but i can say i felt them in the tris directly I think its a very compound movent...
felt it most in the chest to be honest

exactly

I do realise it's dangerous injured my wrist doing it
-
Not worth the risk IMO. It's such an unnatural position.
-
Reverse grip rope pushdowns where the wrists can rotate and the weight's not over you, maybe. This, no thanx.
-
There are dozens of better tri movements with no where near as much risk IMO.
-
if you are going to go heavy do them on a smith-machine also you get a lot better isolation from it and don't have to worry about stabilizing the bar as much

Reverse rope pushdownns never heard of those or seen them done, will be trying those for sure
Thanks again pumpster

Not for everyone. If done, have that extra insurance of having two spotters (preferred doing in a PR) and extra stick-um on the hands. Killer on the wrist at first. Try not to lockout at the top position or take a too wide grip. Presents the elbow joints with the opportunity to blow out. Personal view (for whatever that may be worth) a exercise that is never needed. Can present more problems, for a lot of people, than it's worth. Heard about 400 + in reverse grip BP's, but never seen. Interesting anyway. If anyone wants to try it, please go slow at first with the weight used. Good Luck.

Avoid at all costs is my opinion.
Bad for wrists, elbows, and there`s always the danger of dropping the bar on your face/chest.
A guy at my gym does 315 for about 6 good reps with a really wide grip........I`m just waiting for the day he loses his grip on that bar...........not really waiting but hoping he doesn`t.

It's still allowed in my drug free association. I remember one guy doing it last year because he had an injury or something.

If you really want to add size just do the pullover and press. Great exercise IMO.
