Why would anyone want to turn pro in a sport like this?

- The top guys don't even get paid that much compared to other athletes/professionals at the top of their fields
- Taking ILLEGAL drugs is necessary to compete at the highest levels
- The sport is full of misfits and mentally off people
- Bodybuilders don't get laid by any finer women than a guy with solid game
- Did I say these guys don't get paid jack shit?
- The "lifestyle" can't be supported through a conventional career
- Deprivation of good food and alcohol
- Lying about weights (lifted and on the scale)
- Lying about measurements
- Constant posing in front of mirrors, embarrassing friends and family
- Wasting the best income earning years of one's life
- Kills the joints

That's just a start, let's continue building this list of reasons why we love bodybuilding so much.

-enlarged heart
-most likely to live a shorter life than average
-bodybuilders often get laughed at

Why would anyone want to turn pro in a sport like this?

- The top guys don't even get paid that much compared to other athletes/professionals at the top of their fields  bodybuilding doesnt have to be te only source of income
- Taking ILLEGAL drugs is necessary to compete at the highest levels just because the gov makes something illegal doesnt mean its a morally wrong thing to do
- The sport is full of misfits and mentally off people that makes it interestin
- Bodybuilders don't get laid by any finer women than a guy with solid game a bodybuilder r and an average joe with equal game = bodybuilder gets hotter chick
- Did I say these guys don't get paid jack shit?  refer to first bold
- The "lifestyle" can't be supported through a conventional career why not?
- Deprivation of good food and alcohol not necessarily. a pro bodybuilder has enough muscle t eat junk food and not get fat.
- Lying about weights (lifted and on the scale) this isnt a rule
- Lying about measurements this isnt a rule
- Constant posing in front of mirrors, embarrassing friends and family posing is fun, if they are embarrased they have issues
- Wasting the best income earning years of one's life refer to first bold
- Kills the joints everybody gets old and dies at one point or another. id rather do what i like and lose soem years than do somehting i dont like and gain soem years.

That's just a start, let's continue building this list of reasons why we love bodybuilding so much.

Let me clarify: bodybuilding itself is not necessarily a bad thing.  However, COMPETING in bodybuilding is not healthy whatsoever.

it is if you are natural
& there is a difference between using steroids and abusing them

they are "anabolic" after all

Tbombz, the law is the law.  You may disagree with it, but its still the law and can get you into a lot of trouble if you don't follow it.  These guys (pros and wannabe pros) are constantly flirting with jail time.

Of course, its their decision and their life...I just don't see why a rational person would put themselves into that position and risk what could happen.  The potential rewards are way too small.

"Tbombz" have aspirations to become a pro.

I can see how being fit or doing the fitness thing is good. You usually are way more muscular than average and the health benefits still remain.

Bulking up and taking big quantities of drugs is just plain stressful to the body. With that said I wouldn't mind doing it though, just don't try to pretend it's something it's not.

come on! expections to the rule all over the (?).  cant call it a sport and couldnt come up with something else at the moment

1. shawn ray started as a teen and never had a real job, earned about $125K yrly vs $30K w/ a social degree.

2. ronnie coleman was still able to keep his career (FT-active benefits) and pocket probably about $4-$5M during his O run.  Arlington cop salary over same time is about $300K

3. Phil's turnover into money is probably better than any pro in 4 yrs vs working the desk at a gym.  Plus he'll have the O title for the next 5 - 6 matching Jay and Ronnie financial numbers.  His Biz degree aint going to make him $100K CO which has jobs but POOR A$$ pay.

4. Not sure what Jay would do outside of bbing.  Repair refigs. Over a 12 yr career probably is the all-time money earner.

There are exceptions.

Everyone cant get an nba or nfl contract.  in phil's case that Denver Univ degree will work after his O run.

Today's pro bodybuilding doesn't appeal to but a few. The 70's to mid 80's were probably the best times for pro bodybuilding.

EDIT: comp bbing is also off-the-charts  GAY

The actual physiques peaked in the mid to late 90s.  Pro bodybuilding is dying, plain and simple.  Where are the exciting physiques?  Sure, there are a couple here and there (Martinez, Heath), but that's it.
