Title: Religions
Post by: ASJChaotic on January 15, 2009, 08:09:11 PM
All religion does is cause conflict in the world, everything happens because somebody doesn't agree with somebody's religious views, I'll sum it up for you, they are just "rules" made before there was laws, basics to keep humans being "nice"
don't kill
don't steal
etc
if are bad you will be punished by going to hell, if you're nice you are rewarded by going to heaven
wake up, it is all "rules" to keep you "nice" and make you think about your actions
stop killing each other because your religious views are different

but make no mistake about it

THERE IS A GOD

EXACTLY; Read a book on evolution written by scientists who have studied this shit for years, not some 2000 year old book written by people in the desert who thought the earth was flat

And if you're going to say, "Well evolution can explain how life changes but it still doesn't explain where everything came from to begin with", well neither does religion or 'god'. Just because we don't yet understand something fully in a scientific sense doesn't mean we should just give up and give all credit to some invisible magician in the sky.

many peple get offended at the idea that something bigger is out that, and that our feeble gray matter can't understand it.

it might be all around us.  we're just too simple to see it, in our current form.

Oh, you fell right into that one.

Yeh, I didn't feel it was worth me wasting my time watching videos posted by some schmoe who couldn't articulate his own point of view.

I'll cut to the chase. I don't come on to this board trying to make some huge revelation that I have concluded there is no god and therefore I'm an atheist and the best way to live is morally. Therefore I don't see why you should feel any achievement in posting how you have concluded that there is a god, but religion is a bad idea and we should all live morally. You seriously think this is some sort of revelation? Seriously, come on man.

AXA i agree with you that most organized religion is bullshit and as far as a god existing...

i try to keep my mind open and humble about this. i would like to think theres a higher power propelling what we call life. i dont know about you but i dont believe in the typical god that everyone talks and thinks about when hearing the word. i just think there might be some type of higher power but i have no way of comprehending what that power might be and how it works so i just keep an open mind to the existence or nonexistence of god or a "higher power" or whatever. but i do think most organized religion is complete bullshit especially christianity. theres definitely no heaven or hell with deceased people looking down on you, no resurrection, no creation of earth in 7 days thousand of years ago. nah none of that. fuck that bullshit. and fuck terrorists.

God is a being made up by people to try and rationalize their existence. God is a simplistic explanation for some of life's deepest questions.

yes it would be nice to imagine everyone chillin in heaven watching down on you (except when your beatin off to some hardcore porn) but i dont think your ego goes with you when you die. in other words, i dont think you take your personality with you to the afterlife while maintaining all your characteristics, experiences, and memories still intact. I think it's more of a release of energy (possibly reincarnation? not sure though that belief has its issues as well). either way no definite answer that can be justified and verified with valuable evidence will be achieved any time soon, at least in my opinion.
