Title: Taken
Post by: danielson on January 18, 2009, 05:14:14 PM
Great movie. Kind of like Man on Fire. Liam Neeson plays and older Jason Bourne type character and his daughter is kidnapped, so he goes on a killing rampage. I highly recommend it.

I have to totally agree with you, the movie was simply amazing.  I watched it last night and was very impressed with the action scenes.  I will probably watch it again tonight.

Did it remind you of Man On Fire? Just one badass dude taking on a small army, just like Denzel did in MOF. An instant classic imo.

beginning was good - it got boring from the middle on too many fights he just got away with - it got a little unbelievable and cheesy at the end - I liked the movie but I at the end I had a strange feeling it wasn't enough to be super good.

I just watched this last night.  Not as good as people are making it seem.  It is a little like Man on Fire, but not as believable.  It is definitely a good watch if you're in the mood for senseless action (which is often the case), but it doesn't stand for much else.  Many people have compared it to the Bourne trilogy, but the only thing I saw in common was the close-quarters-combat.  Otherwise, Bournes are intelligent spy thrillers.  Taken is just action.

Nothing wrong with just action. Every movie doesn't need to be Oscar material.

Yeah, I agree.  In fact, I wish the Academy was more appreciative of action movies.  Just because they have high entertainment value and fans, doesn't mean they are not great movies (i.e. Dark Knight).

But Taken wasn't a great movie, regardless.
