This should be interesting.

When is Bush getting subpoenaed? When is he getting impeached?
Dammit, hurry it along! I can't wait already! >:(
I 'm saving a bottle of champagne just for that, ...and I'm ansy to pop the cork on it! :P
-
If Rove has nothing to hide, what is he worried about? ;)
-
this is going to get really interesting
Rove is presently refusing to show up
-
He believes he's above the law.
Agree with the supoena or disagree with it... but you HAVE to show up when issued one.
If he doesn't show, he's breaking the law, plain and simple.

he was breaking the law the last time he refused to show up
I think the difference this time will be who is running the Dept. of Justice

Didn't Eric Holder say something recently which led us to believe he would prosecute?
LOL... memories of Alberto Gonzalez!
-
jan 16th - Bush sent a lawyer to Rove - fred fielding, white house counsel, to Rove:
"You may receive future supoenas."
"The president continues to direct you not to give informatoin to Congress."
"The president still dictates executive order, even after he leaves office, forever"
Constitutional scholars say this is insanely unique, something no other president has done. So, chances are Rove will not show. bush thinks if you worked for him at any time, you have ability to ignore congressional supoenas for the rest of your life.
Before you laugh, repubs... picture Obama's staff, after 8 years of making their mess and scandal, having ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY FOR LIFE. In fact, they could ignore all congressional requests. Just like Rove and Myers and Bolton did under Bush.
-
I don't think this is the most important thing to persue and waste money on in the current state of things...but this is what happens when the administration has poor comunication. We must expect transparency from our officials outside of war strategies.
-
I think unlike Bush, Obama will insist that Rove testify UNDER oath. ;D

He doesn't have to show up.
He was given a supoena.
Why is he, a private citzen, exempt from this letter?
-
Complete waste of money. I hope he doesn't show.
-

You hope he breaks the law? I don't understand that.
Whether it's a BS charge or not, it's a supoena. You get called, you go.
-
If he thinks he is covered by executive privilege, then he doesn't need to say a word until the courts rule on whether executive privilege applies.

So you agree that if/when holder and company order him to speak, he should?
Executive order can be removed by the next guy in charge, just like pardons.
-
No. If he asserts executive privilege the courts should decide whether he needs to appear.
-
I hope he doesn't show.
Me too. Then the little weasle can go to jail.

Wishful thinking.

I believe he will be held in contempt of congress and then the next step will be with the justice department.
Hopefully they will detain him until he agrees to talk.
Even better, maybe Obama can just declare him and enemy combatant and send him to Gitmo for waterboarding. I believe this is fully within the current power of the POTUS

Cannot. It is being closed down.
Nothing but a partisan witch hunt.

really - then why did Michael Mukasey name a special prosecutor in September to investigate whether former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, other Bush administration officials or Republicans in Congress should face criminal charges in the firings of the U.S. attorneys.
Is that also a partisan witch hunt ?

Yes, it is a partisan witch hunt. The investigation was started by Democrats. The hearings were held by Democrats. The continued hearings are being held by Democrats.
And I have yet to hear or read about any criminal activity in the firing of the U.S. Attorneys. Outrageous that my tax dollars are being wasted on this garbage, particularly in light of the economic crisis.

I feel the same way about the steroid witch hunts...

I agree. Those hearings were designed in large part to embarrass the players. The players made their beds, but the hearings were unnecessary IMO.

how exactly would you expect to hear or read something way nobody will testify ...well there have been a few like Monica Goodling which is what leads to more question and as of yet no answers.
I wasn't aware that former AG Mukasey was part of the partisan witch hunt but I guess you're saying he is

Oh please. This has been something pursued solely by Democrats. They have been floundering around all over the place. There isn't even smoke. There was a long discussion about this on the board a while back. Several in fact. I haven't heard of a crime yet. One party in Congress should not be going on fishing expeditions looking for potential wrongdoing. You would think the folks in D.C. would have learned from the wasted Walsh and Starr investigations.
Let me go out on a limb and say the millions spent on this witch hunt will not result in a criminal prosecution. I will be shocked if that happens. At most, we may see a partisan "report" from Congress to try and justify flushing our money down the drain.

Holder is maybe trying to get repubs back for prosecuting clinton?
