As long as I keep my job nothin has changed. I've survived several rounds of layoffs and was promoted in the process. It all hinges on keeping my job....do that and everything is cool. We have internal "rightsizing" going on now, but my unit is so leaned out now that it would be hard to imagine that rightsizing impacting us...never really know though. If the market continues to sour the potential for layoffs will increase.

lessons are cheap too. that's one of the first things ppl cut out when they run outta money.
I have 4, sometimes 5 part-time jobs each week. Not taking any chances.

Company went into a wage freeze in August, hiring freeze in September and cut 20% of the staff in October...got a email from corporate on New Years eve day telling us all that we are getting a 5% pay cut, no matching 401K, 2008 yearly bonus gone, 2009 yearly bonus program stopped and a change to our vacation time bank (not in our favor).
And since they cut the staff so deeply all the salaried people (like myself) have to work more hours. yay!
