Title: OK-- Who else wants to see Anderson fight GSP?
Post by: George Whorewell on January 31, 2009, 09:46:49 PM
Dana White needs to make that shit happen- I really feel like GSP can actually give Anderson a fight- something he hasn't had since he came to the UFC.

The Welterweight is a competitive division enough!

And GSP is big enough for welterweight, there's no point fighting a taller guy like that, who even fought at 205...

You know, there's a reason why they make weight categories... The expression "best fighter, pound for pound" refers to a realtive talent, the goal being to avoid making a dolphin fight a whale!

The sport is risign, I'm sure they'll have plenty of nice match up in there own division... tonight's fight, GSP against BJ, should be seen as a lesson to remember: to each his own... stay in your weigh class guys!

Exactly.
If Silva comes down to 170. Then GSP should fight him and GSP would whoop his ass.
But going up in weightclass is a bad idea.

Silva should fight a top 205-pounder if he wants a challenge.

That's more logical then going down (or asking others to come up).

George walks around alot heavier then his fight weight  and Silva is a natural 205  the jump up for George would be miner and it wold be a world class fight.   GSP should never be taken lightly. haven't you Americans learned anything. the only war between Canada and the us and we kicked your ass   size is only a small factor  in the ring

Silva fought Henderson who would destroy anyone GSP has fought.

bwhahaha. ya right, hughes and penn are better then hendo. hughes is the most dominant champ of the welterweights plain and simple.

hendo is a punching bag lately... you are underestimating gsp, i said he would rape penn and he did, bj has absolutely no offense, same with hughes....

fitch was undefeated as well.

I would love to see this fight, cause I think GSP would have a real shot. Silva is very talented but if you look at his record you could argue his opponents. GSP is very strong for his size so Silva won't be able to manhandle him like most bigger fighters do to the smaller guy. And if the fight goes to the ground, then ask Penn how GSP ground game is. Penn wasn't just barely beaten, he was destroyed.

But at the end of the day I'd rather have then not fight then to have one of them fight at less than 100% either by adding weight or cutting it.

GSP made Penn look way overrated.

I don't see GSP beating the Spider.  It would be like GSP against a larger version of himself.. and with longer limbs.  I don't think GSP is silly enough to go that route either.

On the other hand, i don't feel that Silva has really been tested.  I'd like to see him at a permanent 205 weight.  I think a good stepping stone/mile marker would indeed be Liddell.  This fight would solidify Silva as a contender at 205, of which I feel he would win pretty solidly.

Silva would anihalate Chuck Lidell. I dont think GSP is anything like Anderson, at least not style wise. GSP is a karate black belt and world class wrestler who only in the past few years has gotten sick in BJJ. Anderson is str8 muay thai and BJJ. Both are great athletes, both are smart in the octagon. The biggest factor would be who would have to move up or down in weight. I think GSP could fight with the same speed and relentlessness at 185- Silva would be a bean pole at 170 and probably would lose the power of his striking. I dont think this fight is far fetched at all- It wont happen for a while but I could definetly see GSP moving up to 185 in a year or two if he dominates 170 for that time. Dana would love the fight because at it stands there is absolutely NOBODY at 185 who is even a pimple on andersons ass.

As long as they let GSP show up with more Vaseline than one of Keith's dildos, he can take anyone :D
