Half of those should be free.

No shit!  Well, Feb 7 and Feb 21 are free on Spike, and they actually look like pretty good cards, I like the Sanchez/Stevenson fight, I love anthony 'rumble' Johnson and Koscheck is cool to watch.

But you're right, those next few cards are weak as balls man.  I thought maybe these were all Spike TV freebies, they really outta be.

I can't wait to see Matt Hughes beat the fuck out of Matt Serra but that Rampage/Jardine card is weak as all hell.

I hate the way Serra calls Matt Hughes, "yoos".  That's how he pronounces his last name.  Its so annoying, in his New York accent, "Yoos is such a dick.  I can't stand Yoos".  Yeah, we'll see how much of a dick he is on fight night.  I think he's gonna beat Serra down like GSP beat Penn's mouthy ass down.

thanks blue devil, the fights im most interested in are

diego sanchez/daddy stevenson= i dont know whos gonna win this one
gray manyard/jim miller=im going with miller
anderson silva/leites=prolly anderson but leites has the skills to pull off the upset
lidell/shogun=i think chucks gonna have a great night and ko shogun in rd 3
hughes/serra=dont sleep on serra, his striking is better then hughes and submissions are in serras favor also, hughes only chance is to take him down and gnp him, serra has pretty good gnp defense unless your gsp,lol
sherk/frankie edger=im looking forward to this bigtime, sherk wont be able to muscle edger around with the wrestling cause edger is just as good in takedowns and takedown defense, striking is close also, experiance might give sean a slight advantage but well see.
irvin/mcfedries=should be a brawl, someones going to sleep in rd 1 imo

That's a shitload of events, but that's how you build an organization with depth.  Affliction is going to attempt to do 3 shows per year ::)

You saying the WWE is an organization of depth? I'm afraid that's where the UFC is going. People forget that MMA is the sport and UFC is an organization. Affliction has the fighters and money and if they take their time and try not to copy the UFC but instead make their own show then the UFC might start to lose steam.

The UFC is solid but we've been asked to pay for three pay-per-views already this year. That won't last over time.

Did I post something that would lead you to believe that I don't understand the difference between MMA the sport and the UFC being an organization that promotes the sport ???

Not every UFC card will be stacked and no one is forcing you to watch every event.  The UFC has made MMA what it is today.  It is because of them, that there is now more opportunity for fighters to make a living off the sport they love than ever before.

By having regular events throughout the year, they are able to develop the talent pool, find new fighters, give them exposure, promote their personalities, etc.

With three measly events per year, Affliction is not able to give fighters any real opportunity, and they are not able to develop an organization with depth.  It's basically the same group of fighters, fighting each other three times per year.

Not to mention, they are hemorrhaging cash.  Someone is going to have to figure out a profitable financial model before Trump gives up on bankrolling the whole thing.

i agree

furthermore when there's only one organization politics and and odd match ups become rampant. we want to see the best fighters go against each other not the most hyped up

If you want to see the best fighters fight each other, then pray that all other organizations fold and the UFC is the only one that remains.  Otherwise, we'll have a hodgepodge of organizations out there, all claiming to have the best fighters and none of them ever fighting each other.  The trade off is having a bully organization, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Would have to disagree. Affliction is already saying that they would fight Fedor vs. Ufc champ?? I am sure Jerry Millen would pit other fighters from his orginaztion against other orgs. fighters. Then what happens is you have other orgs fighting other orgs how you do in boxing and then the UFC is stuck to fighting just it's fighters against each other. Then you have a undisputed champ such as Fedor or anyone else for that matter who says to the UFC bring it and Dana says I don't wanna play with you guys. Then his fighters look like they are ducking dudes. This could very well happen in my opinion.

i think dana proved that he wasnt afraid to pit his fighters against other top fighters from other orginizations, dana sent chuck to fight in pride afew years back when pride was a force in the mma world and the ufc,s main competition for best promotion.even though it didnt pan out the way dana wanted it when rampage beat up chuck, atleast dana sent someone.pride wouldnt send anyone over if my memory serves me right.the only reason we got to see all these dream fights lately was cause pride went under and the fighters from pride either went to the ufc or didnt make good money fighting in the smaller orginizations.yous guys really think we would have been seeing chuck vs wandy, big nog vs mir,cro cop vs whoever if pride didnt fold,it would be the same old story like before, the ufc claiming they have the cream of the crop fighters and pride saying they have the best fighters.alot of people dont realize what and how much of the companies stock rides on bragging rights to having the best fighters, look what happened to elite xc when kimbo got dropped, they put all thier eggs in one basket on kimbo and when he fell so did the orginization.right now dana knows if fedor destroys his top hw,s the ufc,s stock will drop alot and people will be asking about this fedor guy and wanting to see him fight, and mma fans will start getting into affliction alot more.also millen would be saying the ufc,s a bunch of bums and affliction got the real talent cause yous saw what fedor done to the ufc hw,s,it would spell disaster for the ufc imo, they would by no means go under but thier stock will drop some.danas stalling alittle right now giving brock more time to prepare, honestly i dont see 2 many other guys in the ufc hw div that could give fedor a fight, maybe kongo, mir and brock have the best chance of any to atleast give fedor a decent fight but thats it right now.fedor is a great guy to have in your orginization cause hes the top dog right now
