The number of Americans who applied for unemployment benefits for the first time tops 600,000. Continuing claims set record high.

The number of Americans filing for first-time unemployment benefits surged last week to a level not seen since October 1982, according to a government report released Thursday.

The number of initial jobless claims jumped to a much-higher-than-expected 626,000 in the week ended Jan, 31, according to the Labor Department. That's up from a revised 591,000 in the previous week and the highest level since the last week of October 1982, when jobless claims reached 637,000.

Exactly.  "Claims".

They're all liberal liars.  Jobs are aplenty.

My construction company is down to nothing.    I am now unemployed.   All my crews are gone hoping to flip burgers or something.

The un-regulated finacial system created bubble after bubble, until reality had to be faced.   Home prices will now drop to realistic prices based upon actual earnings of the middle class.     I say cap Executive pay, cap sports pay, cap hollywood star pay......all excess will be healthcare and homes and job creation/maintence.     Its a little bit socialistic but the other way has been a disaster......All welfarites have to work to recieve benefits...even if theyre sweeping parking lots.   We can help those that help themselves.
