Obama Deals Another Catastrophic Blow

President Barack Obama dealt another catastrophic blow to American workers recently by announcing Diana Farrell, to his National Economic Council where she will serve as a deputy economic advisor, according to computerworld.com.
Farrell is the former director of the McKinsey Global Institute, McKinsey & Co.'s economics research arm, and is a notorious proponent of outsourcing and further expanding the job-killing H-1B visa worker program. In fact, she has made millions advising companies to offshore production as a cost-saving measure.
Now, unfortunately, she will have the ear of the most powerful man in the world.
Farrell is either ignorant, a liar, or both. At McKinsey & Co.’s, she was the lead author of a “research” paper titled, "Offshoring: Is it a Win-Win Game?" that wrongly concluded that the U.S. gains “substantial benefits” from outsourcing production, further proving the old axiom that there are “lies, damned lies and statistics.”
In the preposterous report, Farrell falsely claims that, “Policymakers should let offshoring continue” because “[it] has such a limited impact on the U.S. jobs market, its effect on U.S. wages will also be negligible, even in the computer and data-processing industry.”
The entire report reads like some sort of twisted manifesto on exactly how to destroy the American economy as we know it.
Farrell claims that “continuing to allow offshoring and free trade in services will benefit the United States as a whole.” However, all credible research - that is not financed, conducted and promoted by a company that makes a living advising other companies to outsource production - points in the opposite direction.
Public Citizen found that, in the first three months of 2004 alone, over 48,000 American jobs were outsourced. From March 2001 to March 2004, American software producing industry lost 16 percent of its jobs due to outsourcing. And Goldman Sachs found in a study that 15,000 to 30,000 American jobs were lost monthly between 2002 and 2005 directly as a result of outsourcing.
Some estimates claim that as many as 14 million American jobs could be outsourced in the future and according to the Gartner Group, an IT consultancy firm, at least 25 percent of all American IT jobs will be offshored by 2010.
Job losses are just the tip of the iceberg. Typically, companies that hire H-1B visa workers or offshore production pay significantly lower wages, which drives down the earnings of those Americans that stay in the industry. As outsourcing increased dramatically in the middle of the decade, average salaries for application developers, database engineers and systems administrations fell by 17.5 percent in 2002, 14.7 percent in 2003 and another 5.4 percent in 2004. Those workers displaced through outsourcing, on average, lose 24 percent of their earnings after relocating to a lower-wage job.
The fact that Farrell failed to acknowledge the reality of the outsourcing epidemic is disturbing. The fact that she may not have realized the havoc outsourcing is wreaking on the economy and may actually believe her own propaganda is downright scary.

President Barack Obama has had several questionable appointments to his cabinet as the administration began to take shape. The biggest problem with the Obama appointments thus far is a collective policy history which is at odds with the needs and wants of the United States and its people.
Obama’s first major misstep was his selection of Rahm Emanuel as White House Chief of Staff. Emanuel will be Obama’s top aide for the next several years and will personally dictate the President’s schedule and meetings. Emanuel’s previous stints as a White House aide included pushing the NAFTA legislation through Congress during the Clinton Administration and profiting handsomely from the congressional deregulation binge during his time in the House of Representatives.
President Obama – then the “President-elect” – selected a former mayor with almost no professional expertise or experience as his appointee for United States Trade Representative. That man, Ron Kirk, is not only egregiously unqualified for a position like the USTR, but he is also an avid supporter of “free trade” and NAFTA.
President Obama’s chief economic advisor for over two years has been Lawrence Summers. Summers served as Treasury Secretary during the Clinton administration and was a major supporter of the WTO, NAFTA, deregulation, outsourcing and other ruinous economic policies.
It seemed as if the President had side-stepped another “free trade” landmine when his nominee for Commerce Secretary dropped out of the running. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson was the top candidate for the position and was forced to withdraw his bid in light of a “pay-to-play” scandal involving his gubernatorial office. Richardson’s nomination was bad not only for the alleged misdeeds of his office, but also for his avid support of NAFTA throughout its existence.
Much of the blue-collar support for the Obama campaign came from the people’s belief that Obama would make good on his pledge to renegotiate NAFTA and change America’s listless position in international trade. According to current rules and practices the United States, its companies, and its workers are forced into unfair direct competition with foreign counterparts. We have been losing this competition for years and Obama seemed like the man willing to set America back on a productive path. Unfortunately, in his zeal to fill his administration with career politicians, the President has once again painted himself into a corner.
It is widely believed that Senator Judd Gregg (R – New Hampshire) will be the President’s new nominee for Commerce Secretary. The President is likely making this decision based on a perceived need to be “bipartisan,” but the result will be another “free trader” in a place of power and influence in Washington. As a long serving Senator, Judd Gregg had many opportunities to take a proactive stand against destabilizing trade liberalization. Instead, Senator Judd chose to back “free trade” policies almost across the board since his first election in 1993 (the same year that NAFTA came into operation). Senator Judd is also a proponent of increasing the proliferation of job-sapping H1-B visas and promoting the outsourcing of American technical jobs.
The American people need, demand and deserve actual change. What we have seen is a “who’s who” of Washington insiders and old-guard Democrats. We need more than the same old “free trade” thinkers and Clinton-era retreads. Somehow, despite his incredible popular mandate to bring sweeping reform to the White House, President Obama has instead chosen to openly promote the very policies which he railed against just months ago. We were told that the election would bring radical change to the failed system which was foisted on this nation throughout several administrations. What we are getting thus far is more of the same. The President seems more worried about his budget bending economic stimulus than with the qualifications and background of his advisors. We need professionals and experts who have a real understanding of the economic situation in America. The last thing we need is more lawyers who are in over their heads.
When he runs this country into the ground all I can say is I DIDN"T VOTE FOR HIM! LOL. Fucking idiot voters!

Ron Paul is all about eliminating government waste. Doing away with the Federal Reserve. It's not like overnight we'd turn into an anarchocapitalist society. Far from it. Regulation isn't the answer to our problems. Getting rid of the fed is the most important thing. Ron Paul is not a free trade nazi.

Bush inherited an economy and was going into a ression, 6 months later 9/11 and the markets went into the shitter because it, then he quickly turned it around and had the biggest turn around in the last 25 years dispite going to war. He also kept us safe on our own soil for the last 71/2 years.
Within 2 weeks, Obama is giving us the biggest spending and welfare bill in the history of the country and put our countries security at risk.

7. Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California.

Defense & Foreign Policy
1. Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom.
2. Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured.
3. Leader by leader and member by member, al Maida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaeda leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaeda leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror.
4. Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed.
5. Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track funds/terrorists. Has cut off much of the terrorists' funding, and captured or killed many key leaders of the al Qaeda network.
6. Initiated a comprehensive review of our military, which was completed just prior to 9/11/01, and which accurately reported that ASYMMETRICAL WARFARE capabilities were critical in the 21st Century.
7. Killed the old US/Soviet Union ABM Treaty that was preventing the U.S. from deploying our ABM defenses.
8. Has been one of the strongest, if not THE strongest friend Israel has ever hand in the U.S. presidency.
9. Part of the coalition for an Israeli/Palestinian "Roadmap to Peace," along with Great Britain, Russia and the EU.
10. Pushed through THREE raises for our military. Increased military pay by more than $1 billion a year.
11. Signed the LARGEST nuclear arms reduction in world history with Russia.
12. Started withdrawing our troops from Bosnia, and has announced withdrawal of our troops from Germany and the Korean DMZ.
13. Prohibited putting U.S. troops under U.N. command.
14. Paid back UN dues only in return for reforms and reduction of U.S. share of the costs.
15. Earmarked at least 20 percent of the Defense procurement budget for next-generation weaponry.
16. Increased defense research and development spending by at least $20 billion from fiscal 2002 to 2006.
17. Ordered a comprehensive review of military weapons and strategy.
18. Ordered a review of overseas deployments.
19. Ordered renovation of military housing. The military has already upgraded about 10 percent of its inventory and expects to modernize 76,000 additional homes this year.
20. Is working to tighten restrictions on military-technology exports.
21. Brought back our EP-3 intel plane and crew from China without any bribes or bloodshed.
Globalization & Internationalism
1. Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become another League of Nations (in other words, showed the UN to be completely irrelevant).
2. Killed U.S. involvement in the International Criminal Court.
3. Told the United Nations we weren't interested in their plans for gun control (i.e., the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty).
4. The only President since the founding of the UN to essentially tell that organization it is irrelevant. He said: "The conduct of the Iraqi regime is a threat to the authority of the United Nations, and a threat to peace. Iraq has answered a decade of UN demands with a decade of defiance. All the world now faces a test, and the United Nations a difficult and defining moment. Are Security Council resolutions to be honored and enforced, or cast aside without consequence? Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?" We all know the outcome and the answer.
5. Told the Congress and the world, "America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our country."
Government Reform
1. Improved government efficiency by putting hundreds of thousands of jobs put up for bid. This weakens public-sector unions and cuts undeserved pay raises.
2. Initiated review of all federal agencies with the goal of eliminating federal jobs (completed September 2003) in an effort to reduce the size of the federal government while increasing private sector jobs.
3. Led the most extensive reorganization the Federal bureaucracy in over 50 years: After 9/11, condensed 20+ overlapping agencies and their intelligence sectors into one agency, the Department of Homeland Security.
4. Ordered each agency to draft a five-year plan to restructure itself, with fewer managers.
5. Converted federal service contracts to performance-based contracts wherever possible so that the contractor has measurable performance goals.
Health
1. Strengthen the National Health Service Corps to put more physicians in the neediest areas, and make its scholarship funds tax-free.
2. Double the research budget of the National Institutes of Health.
3. Signed Medicare Reform, which includes:
A 10-year privatization option.
Prescription drug benefits: Prior to this reform, Medicare paid for extended hospital stays for ulcer surgery, for example, at a cost of about $28,000 per patient. Yet Medicare would not pay for the drugs that eliminate the cause of most ulcers, drugs that cost about $500 a year. Now, drug coverage under Medicare will allow seniors to replace more expensive surgeries and hospitalizations with less expensive prescription medicine.
More health care choices: As President Bush stated, "…when seniors have the ability to make choices, health care plans within Medicare will have to compete for their business by offering higher quality service [at lower cost]. For the seniors of America, more choices and more control will mean better health care. These are the kinds of health care options we give to the members of Congress and federal employees. What's good for members of Congress is also good for seniors.
New Health Savings Accounts: Effective January 1, 2004, Americans can set aside up to $4,500 every year, tax free, to save for medical expenses. Depending on your tax bracket, that means you'll save between 10 to 35 percent on any costs covered by money in your account. Every year, the money not spent would stay in the account and gain interest tax-free, just like an IRA. These accounts will be good for small business owners, and employees. More businesses can focus on covering workers for major medical problems, such as hospitalization for an injury or illness. With over 18,000 CBP inspectors and 11,000 Border Patrol agents, CBP has 29,000 uniformed officers on our borders.

6. Launched Operation Tarmac to investigate businesses and workers in the secure areas of domestic airports and ensure immigration law compliance. Since 9/11, DHS has audited 3,640 businesses, examined 259,037 employee records, arrested 1,030 unauthorized workers, and participated in the criminal indictment of 774 individuals.

Since September 11, 2001, the Coast Guard has conducted more than 124,000 port security patrols, 13,000 air patrols, boarded more than 92,000 vessels, interdicted over 14,000 individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally, and created and maintained more than 90 Maritime Security Zones.
8. Announced the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), an internet-based system that is improving America's ability to track and monitor foreign students and exchange visitors. Over 870,000 students are registered in SEVIS. Of 285 completed field investigations, 71 aliens were arrested.
9. This week, the US-VISIT program began to digitally collect biometric identifiers to record the entry and exit of aliens who travel into the U.S on a visa. Together with the standard information, this new program will confirm compliance with visa and immigration policies.

Since September 11, 2001, hundreds of thousands of first responders across America have been trained to recognize and respond to the effects of a WMD attack.
