Fla. governor will appear at townhall
By JONATHAN MARTIN
Joining POTUS for his visit of hard-hit Ft. Myers, Fla: the Sunshine State’s Republican governor, Charlie Crist.
Aides to the governor confirm Crist will appear with Obama at the noon town hall planned for Tuesday.
Crist was one of a handful of GOP governors who affixed his name to a letter of state chief executives in support of the stimulus package.
Florida has been ravaged by the recession, thanks in large part to the collapse of the home construction industry and spike in foreclosures. The state faces a $2.4 million budget deficit that is growing.

well are you going?
-
nope. only 1500 tickets available, and ppl were waiting 36 hours overnight in line. They're selling them for $1000 on craigslist now.
He's in indiana today. 15% unemployment rate in that state - was only 5% last year at this time.

Damn, I like this guy and he is in favor of the stimulus? Dissapointing.

Another joke of a governor looking for a handout.

In my own estimate, 20% of the FL people I speak to can't find work.
maybe it's only 7% officially... but it feels a lot higher. People who got their hours cut from 20 to 5.... people who are self-employed whose business is dried up... etc etc.
FL is so broke it's not funny. Crist doesn't want to be the next arnold, declaring bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy is not always a bad thing if it means making the choices and decisions necessary to formulate a viable situation.
