Title: Apparently a Dog show is sport but bodybuilding isn't
Post by: El Diablo Blanco on February 11, 2009, 02:22:46 PM
Sports Illustrated.com had photos of the Westminister Dog show yet they never in their lives will cover or show photos of bodybuilding.

So apparently a dog show is more sport than bodybuilding.

Neither are sports.  Also, if bb was less of a freakshow it might get covered more.

in the early days, that's exactly what it was.  The Mr America contest was to find the best representation of the American male.  Points were awarded for athletic ability in other sports, grooming, complexion, and interview skills.

then in 59 or so, the Weiders figured they could make their contests different than the rest by only judging on muscle mass, symmetry and proportionality.  That lasted until the mid 90s when they got rid of the symmetry and proportionality parts.

there are chow chows near where i live.

soo many wolf hybrids, akitas, staff, bulldogs and irish wolfhounds.

also a dog requires skill to run through hoops etc...a bodybuilder on stage doesnt require skill nor have a tangible measure to determine the winner

Bodybuilding is a very hard sport. It takes a lot of dedication, very few people have the kind of dedication to do it. That's why it's not featured and that's one reason it's not popular.

Those who keep going on about this need to get over it. Just because you don't put the dedication into it doesn't mean it's not a sport.

Both are exhibitions of animals on a stage with perverts drooling over them. Neither are sports. Case closed

I'm wiling to argue that a dog show has a higher probability of being an actual 'sport' due to the dogs having to be run around the track/circle , that requires physical activity, something bodybuilders know very little about.
