Title: $676 per year
Post by: 240 is Back on February 12, 2009, 08:07:58 AM
That's what Obama's plan will give the average joe.

I know, Drudge and others are having a laugh because $13 a week doesn't seem like much.  however, keeping an extra $676 per year (of your own money) isn't too shabby.

it seems like a slap in the face IMO

I swear 240 plays stupid just to try and piss people off.  He can't be as dumb as he acts.  But then again, people often have a way of not living up to expectations.

I generally try to ignore him just to not give him the satisfaction of stirring shit up.  But sometimes I feel like I need to call him on his idiocy so as not to give the impression of tacitly agreeing.

LOL.    240 is a master at drawing you in.   Whatever angle works, he'll use it.     I find it quite entertaining actually.

You get to keep $676 and bankers get billions... seems fair, LOL!

$676 dollars won't change anyone's life especially considering the average American has around $8k in credit card debt.

It's a joke that's not funny.

$13 a week is nothing to move of us.

But for poor people, it does help a bit.

when you add up the fat that 200 million people will all be spending an add'l 13 bucks a week, you start to see it will make a macro difference.

It's not a fact that they'll spend it on goods and services, though, or that they'll spend it at all.

It's a joke.

I really don't think it will help stimulate much.  Most people are in debt up to their ears and will just put this towards that.  Banks and CC companies are going to love it!  Which I suppose is the idea, since that would loosen up their purse strings.  Sounds strangely like some type of trickle up economics.... ;D

I agree.  I think he has a very unique sense of humor and many times his sarcasm/off beat humor comes across as his real opinion and he just runs with it.

That's the fucking problem, Showstoppa.

It's like someone in prison getting raped but all they care about is the rapists race. You're getting fucked in the ass, what difference does it make at that point?

$676 isn't going to change shit in 'average Joe's' life.

If you're getting fucked in the ass it really doesn't matter that much who's behind you. :)

What are you really gonna do with $676. We could go to Ruth Chris' for steaks and cigars. :)

You the poor people who don't pay taxes?  If you don't pay taxes you should get 0.  By the way, cutting taxes will do a lot more IMO.  Cut useless federal programs, cut aid to illegals, and allow people to keep more of their check to spend.  I'm sure taxpayers would love some of that 30 million Pelosi wants to spend in order to save a rat.

$700 will pay rent in over half the places available in Lee county.

A month of free rent wouldn't change your life? lol...

and yeah, who is president matters a great deal to poor ppl.  a small % income change helps them a great deal

Read this slow, OK?

Keeping a little bit of your own money does not equal free. :)

One month's "free rent" (when you're not building equity) only helps the landlord and delays the inevitable. Nothing in life is free, 240, especially pussy. :)

Could I find $676 worth of crap to buy if a check showed up tomorrow? Yes. Would that crap change my life? No.

$676 bucks ain't gonna help you much when one can barely keep a job, much less find one.  Jobs keep leaking out overseas.  Ain't gonna be nothin' left but working alongside the hordes of illegals or being some nobody in some bureacracy somewhere.

you live in Cali with the high standard o living.

In SW FL, places are dirt cheap.  My brother is renting a 3 bedroom house with a garage for 650 a month.  it's only 1600 feet, but it's just him there so its plenty.  insanely cheap.  quiet street too.

COST of living my friend, cost.

Not 'standard'.

The standard of living here is overall pretty low with taxation, over crowding, illegals, etc.....
