The point was that the government does not give us our rights. Those rights are inherent in man, or at least should be.

I agree...but to still thank god would be to still thank the toothfairy if you just so happen to find a quarter under your pillow.because were logic ends religion begins.

You knew the point I was making. The right to self defense is not the something the government has the power to take away unless you believe that it is the govt that grants us our rights.
