to make their case the gov't has to show that he knew that he was taking steroids.  a witness that testifies that he saw bonds take or buy steroids is only half the case.  he and his lawyer are hoping to generate reasonable doubt with the dumbass contention that he didn't know what he was taking was steroids and that people that supplying him told him it was something else.

lesson here... never lie on the witness stand.

grin, shrug, admit you juiced, and retire wih your millions.  Bonds was probably worth 70 to 100 mil at the time, and he could have just walked away.  Imagine losing your freedom because you lied on the stand when you already didn't need the $?
