Title: Show Me The Money
Post by: Dos Equis on February 19, 2009, 11:08:48 AM
How is this stimulus law being funded?  Where is the money coming from?

What's a shame is McCain talked during his campaign about the need to cut/control spending.  Obama gets in and rams through the largest spending law in U.S. history.  I hope it works out, but I'm very concerned.

The money grows on trees in Shangri La, which is just outside of D.C. The democrats utilize union labor to harvest the money, that then is distributed to the wretched in society that need a handout, such as GM, Chrysler, downtrodden immigrants and mice in San Fransisco.

they're just printing it, which weakens the dollar.

Bottom line is that we do NEED jobs for these folks.

If you have a better way to create them - besides funding them - please share.  This 8% or more inemployed population is a spiral who stops spending and causes more unemployment in turn.

Are tax cuts the answer?  We tried them for the last few years and they just helped the top 5% to funnel money to Forex and overseas mnfg.

Really, if anyone has a better idea for creating 3-4 mil american jobs, pleas share it :(

1.  Cut corporate taxes.
2.  Cut capital gains taxes
3.  Cut payroll taxes on workers

Those steps are cheaper, more effective, and will result in benefits immediately.

I agree.

Do you have any idea where the money is coming from?  I don't.

We are borrowing it.  they are printing it up from the presses and I think trying to have a treasury auction hoping China buys them up.  i am not sure though.

If the free market was allowed to function, like it did in the 18-1900's unemployment is corrected by wage decreases in industry.

Increased productivity drives prices down, but that is all robbed from us by the inflationary federal reserve.  Deflation is not a bad thing when you have sound money, because the decrease in wages, will facilitate a decrease in prices.  The economy is allowed to correct itself as it goes.

However, in Keynesian economics fiat currency deflation is DEVASTATING as we are seeing right now.

You want to help Americans?  Cap every credit card interest rate at 10% People can instead save or spend the money instead of funneling it into the banking industry which produces NOTHING of tangible value.

4. Cut payouts to those in society who don't and won't contribute.
5. Cut payouts to foreigners, both domestic and overseas
6. Cease the blood-draining taxes on the middle class and business owners

Unions won't allow that.

Unions won't allow that.

Everyone will be taken care of, one way or the other.

Its much more cost effective to have a decrease in wages, as opposed to all the wasteful costs associated with redistribution of wealth by government.

I'm looking forward to better schools and better roads.

Not 100% on the foreclosure crisis but otherwise, I can't see any other feasible option.
At least we're not invading another country and spending a buttload of money on it. If we're going to spend money, spend it on us. I can go with that.

Dude we are broke.

Government has been "broke" since 1933-34 when Roosevelt confiscated everyone's gold and handed it over to the Federal Reserve.

I don't think you realize how far gone things really are.
