More Than 6 Million Illegals Hold Jobs

From 6 million to 7 million illegal immigrants currently hold jobs in the U.S. — jobs that could be taken by the millions of less-educated native Americans who are now unemployed.
A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) discloses that 12.8 million native-born high school dropouts and young American natives with only a high school education are unemployed.
Among all native-born adults with a high school diploma or less, 24.3 million are unemployed.
The unemployment rate among native-born high school dropouts is 17 percent. But the rate among legal and illegal immigrants without a high school diploma is only 10.6 percent.
The CIS, an independent research organization, notes that illegal immigrants are “overwhelmingly employed in lower-skilled and lower-paying jobs,” but adds that “it is difficult to find any evidence of a shortage of less-educated workers…
“If the United States chose to more vigorously enforce immigration laws over the next year, and this resulted in 1 to 2 million illegal workers deciding to leave, it could significantly improve the employment prospects for less-educated natives.
“An economic downturn would seem to be the ideal time to step up enforcement because such efforts would be buttresses by the economic situation, and a recession is the time when Americans, especially the poorest and least educated, are most in need of jobs.”
The CIS points out that an average of 138,000 new foreign workers were authorized each month in 2008, and one-third of adult immigrants have not completed high school.
The CIS observes: “This raises the serious question of whether such a high level of immigration makes sense, given the current concern about joblessness.”

Unfortunatly, it's frequently a better deal to be on unemployment than hold down a job.
I find that most in the high-school dropout crowd are unemployable anyways. The ones that have applied with my company frequently can't even show up to the interview sober, let alone Monday morning...

i know some scumbags who got unemployment and didn't even bother looking for a job til their 6 months of 2/3 paychecks had stopped. pathetic.
they hated their jobs. so it was worth it to lose 1/3 of their money, but spend their day sleeping or watching tv or working under the table.
Unemployment should last for a month. Period. After a month of filling out applications or studying a book on plumbing or electrician trade for 200 hours, you should have the skills to do something else.

I had a neighbor a few years back that was on the unemployment for the full term, then immediatly went on disability when it ran out, and continued on that indefinitly. He was a computer IT guy and had no intention of working again. Like 240 said, people can get 2/3 pay for doing nothing. It's like a big vacation, and all you need is for an employer to fire you!

I'm waiting for unify effort when illegals will rise up, and demand total rights. And Limp wristed Americans will give it to them
Seriously, I want to know how I can be a illegal immigrant in my own country. Because you get all the things that come with being a citzen, except your not one. You can switch up your names, you can get homes without credit, you can commit crimes without getting caught, if ICE catches you and sends you back, you can come back with another alias...I'm mean this is a deal...

Every time I go to Del Taco and McDonald's it says they are hiring. Maybe some people on unemployment should start there instead of wasting tax dollars.

Every time I go to Del Taco and McDonald's it says they are hiring. Maybe some people on unemployment should start there instead of wasting tax dollars.That being said, illegals should lose their jobs. No job and no aid, they'll leave.
But many times the people who can't speak the language EFF up the orders. Seriously, eff them up. At this one Mcdonald's I used to live near, they would give two of some thing (good) or give you the person's order in front to you or behind you. Or if you order 20 Chicken nuggets they give you 10- 15. So I got used to checking my order before I left.
I mean if you don't understand the language, just make the food.
