Terps beat #3 Tar Heels 88-85 in OT. Man...every year the Terps play a game where they pull off a huge upset against a heavily favored opponent.
Unreal win for a such an underperforming team. Guard Greivis Vasquez recorded a triple double of 35 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists.
I'm speechless over this win. This is the same Maryland team that lost to Morgan State on January 7th. At home, no less!!
Beating the #3 team in the nation takes them off the bubble. They now stand an average to good chance of making the big dance. They need to win a couple of games in the ACC tourny to guarantee it.

Not any more......Providence Friars are always tough to beat at home. The key to Pitt's success is whether or not Blair gets in foul trouble. If he starts getting in foul trouble after the second round games in the NCAA tourney, Pitt will be sent home early.
Hope the Terps bring their A game against Duke tonight. Hope there is something left after the emotional win against NC. I'm worried they will come out flat.

Hope so. But the OT win against NC may have taken an emotional toll on them. OR, they could come out on fire. Hope the latter happens.

Is the loss really so much as a surprise on the road? Providence is ALWAYS tough at home in the Big East. Blair got into foul trouble which makes Pitt vulnerable to losing to A LOT of teams in the Big East.

Vasquez fouled out with over 6 minutes to play. it was all over after that. The Terps put up a good fight until he fouled out.
17-10, 6-7 in the tough ACC. Two marquee wins against top 5 schools in Michigan State(earlier in the year) and last week against Carolina. The Morgan State loss is a killer.
At this point they need to win at least 2 games in the ACC tourney to have a shot to be considered for the NCAA tourney.
