The police officers who stopped Oklahoma City motorist Chip Harrison and confiscated a sign from his car told him he has a right to his beliefs, but the Secret Service "could construe this as a threat against President Obama," according to the incident report released this morning.
The sign, which read "Abort Obama Not the Unborn," was returned to Harrison later that day, the report said.
Police spokesman Steve McCool said this morning that the sign was taken in error, and Oklahoma City residents should not be worried that their First Amendment rights will be violated.
Harrison told the officers that in his opinion the words "Abort Obama" meant to impeach him. He told the officers he does not believe in abortion because he is a Christian.

to tell you the truth, my mind conflicted on this. To abort could just mean to abandon, to bail, to dump that on the roadside and leave it. But, abortion in the context used is death. But to say that it is death is taking a stance on abortion which I haven't done yet. But if it is death in this context then the sign was a threat. But but but... So I figured I'd just post it and go with what you guys said :D

A cop making a dumb decision causing someone an inconvenience shouldn't be a national story. Reprimand the officer. Apologize to the citizen. End of story.

What? ??? I'm saying once local media posts "local stories" on the net they are no longer "local" stories. You can point and click right now and find out what the "local" stories are in Honoululu. Saying a story is "local" once the world has access to it is crazy.
