...is supposed to be coming in at 270lbs in the Arnold Classic next weekend, I find it hard for it to be a quality 270lbs and that his gut will be in check. He is 5'8 and has had gut problems before. As big of a fan as I am, I don't think this bodes well. He was in the 250s last year. Even if he does look decent, putting on 20lbs will severly detract from his waist line which people were already calling in to question.
I'm pulling for him but I've never been a fan of bodybuilders putting on that much weight. Even though it worked for Ronnie, even he looked better at a lighter weight.

I would be very surprised if Kai comes in at 270lbs. As you suggest Wiggs even at 250 Kai looked massive - another 20lbs and he will lose all semblance of a tight midsection. I suspect the extra 20lbs is magazine talk.

did he seriously claimed he will come at 270lbs shredded to the bone? :-\
I doubt it, as Kai is still new in the pro ranks....i mean look at the "older" like Jay for example he comes around that weight with years of competing.
Lets wait and see.
-
its bullshit, ofcourse he wont be 270
It was said he came at the 260lbs range last year and it wasnt the case

dude is seriously like a sponge with anabolics/food growing like a weed overnight, the only other current pro who makes good gains is david henry both guys look nothing like there amateur days, and it's only 5 yrs or so both removed from amateur ranks.cutler was huge as amateur ,same for most heavies, supers, henry was a small middleweight,he's like dex with growing as pro yrs go.

I'm sure i recall Larry Pepe saying last year that Kai was around 39.
I don't think he is gonna be as conditioned as everyone expects.
All reports are that he si way off target
-
damn either way 39 or 42 i had no idea he was that old! i agree though if he shows up at 270 he will be way off.

Kai is 33 ;)

You bring up a very good point , a lot of guys keep adding weight at the expense of conditioning and if he can pull it off than great but a lot of guys have trouble putting on 10 pounds without it compromising their hardness , they have to find a balance between size for their frame and conditioning most can't

Textbook case was Mo El Moussawi at this Years Ironman. He added size but completely lost all quad seperation

How old was the grapefruit?
-
Kai is 33 ;)
That's sounds about right. I saw him competing in NYC back in the mid 90's in the NGA, and he was very young. About 20 years old at the time.

adding 20lbs doesnt necessarily mean hes added inches to his waist or to his abdominal distension..

::)
most of the time when a bodybuilder goes from big to massive, they gain waist size and distension. however not always. nasser is a good example. also, bodybuilders can seemingly remove distension and waist size - look at ronnie in 2005 compared to 2004. dennis james this year compared to years past.
all im syaing is that there is no direct correlation between waist expansion on hypertrophy :P

But, you forget, Nasser was a big boy before hand, he has a big bone structure. 250, 260, then 270 is not a huge jump. For a already big boy with a big bone structure

Big dude, all the way big dude. ;D Actually he and Flex had a spat, where Flex talked about how big Nasser's skeleton prolly is, vs. his small frame.

I remember way back in 97 at the Arnold when Nasser was bitching about how Flex is all an illusion and complained like a fucking baby.
Ever since then, I never cared for him.

Look at the detail in Flex's back compared to Nasser's, it's like Putnam next to Coleman.

In most cases the heavier you come in the bigger your waist will be.
-
King Kamali keeps adding size and keeps looking worse.

ND, wait for team teabag to post a delusional rebuttle ;D

Yep, and Flex said, that is what bodybuilding is, an Illusion.
But that pic shows, that one was concerned about detail, and the other with mass.
