Title: A Romanian style PR for me. No belt. Hook grip.
Post by: chris_mason on March 02, 2009, 08:11:42 PM
A Romanian style PR for me.  No belt.  Hook grip.

I am nursing a quad injury, thus no quad drive and the Romanian/stiff-legged style.

It is 625 lbs.  The last 45s on each side are black and kind of hard to see:

Very strong and impressive.
But why do you keep referring to these lifts as 'stiff legged'?

Looks like pretty straight up deadlifting to me, with a rounded back.

A few guys back in the day actually lifted a bit like you do, in competition.

Hedge, I am using no quad drive.  My legs are locked at the knee until the end of the movement.  What would you prefer I call it?  If I use quad drive to execute the pull I can get quite a bit more weight.  Anyone who would deadlift with no quad drive in a meet would be an idiot.  I am doing it now because I have a quad injury.

For most people yes.  Do you see that big lump on my mid/upper back right where it bends?  That is muscle.  I have developed it over time, thus lifting in that fashion is not "bad" for me.

what muscle in the "mid-upper back"? you're wearing a t shirt, you can't see shit, nice pull though.

I'm not sure.  The injury is on my left leg right where the quad ties into my hip.  I trained through it for a while until such time as the pain became unbearable and I felt a "shift" at the bottom of a heavy squat.  I am going to get some deep tissue massages as simply not training my quads for the last 3 weeks has helped, but not solved the issue.  My quads have shrunk a bit and it is driving me NUTS!
