Title: Gym Ownage Just Now.
Post by: Method101 on March 09, 2009, 10:58:17 AM
So, i was there at the dumbell rack curling the 65 pound dumbells, 10 reps each arm, i noticed one guy setting up the incline bench in the middle of the gym floor, afterwards he walked up to the rack looking for the dumbells, i heard him muttering to his friend, "find the 65s", it was then he saw me with them at my feet. He asked me are you using them, i said back yes, he probably assumed i was doing shrugs with them, he stood next to me and waited. I then did my next set, after i curled the first rep his jaw hit the floor and he hung his head low in shame.
Brutal waiting for somone to finish curling the dumbells you are going to be doing incline presses with.

The End. 100% True Story by the way.

I use to curl the 75s for 10 reps each arm. But i've always had strong biceps for some weird reason, curls and seated rows with heavy weight is very easy for me to do. But I couldn't incline press the 75s for 10 reps back then, at least not as easy. Another true story.

Me and my friend were actually laughing at those shorts.  Your balls were showing in the mirror when you sat on the bench.  Way too short, homie.

I was curling the 5 pound dumbbells when I put them down next to the 65lbs.  This big guy came over to grab the 65's and slipped on my 5 pounder and fell.  Brutal slipping on my pussy ass weights while trying to work out like a real man.

If you're "curling" more than you can press, you are swinging the weight, not curling it

I'm sorry Nasser but I was actually curling it, not swinging it. As I said I've always had strong biceps (which i'm not really bragging, because it takes my chest and back out of some exercises and makes me look unbalanced). It was my triceps and chest that were lacking to do the pressing movements just as easy.

Okay you must be deformed then, if you properly curl more than you can press.  Deformed or bad form - you pick.

A Dude in my gym owned himself yesterday, (with an assist by yours truly).

I was doing Hammer Strength shoulder presses with some good weight on there, all swolled up.. and I notice this dude STARING at me.

I finish my set and he says "wait till you get to be my age....you're in for a surprise" So i say "how old are you?" and he replies "I'm 41."

 So i said "that's great.......I'll be 43 in June."

Bullshit, my coach told me that benching heavy would make my chest too big and throw off my fastball.  I just stick to the 40 pound DBs for reps.

Dude, this was 2 or so years ago when I was around 16. I never said my biceps looked like i could curl 75 lb dumbbells with good form, they were just a strong bodypart on me, unlike my chest and triceps were. I was incline benching the 75s for 10 or so back then but it was a lot more difficult than curling the 75s were back then. Then i figured out how I should train my chest and back without my biceps taking up most of the work. I dont know why your so interested, it's not like i'm trying to be a beast here, I dont even curl anymore because I'm trying to bring my chest and back up. Some people are strong pressers, some are strong squatters, i'm neither, i'm a strong curler, which I consider to be less manly, if anything its hindered me.

EDIT: oh btw, someone don't forget to reply "meltdown" to my above post  ;D

Just busting your balls in response to some of your Nasser comments :)  Although it is still very strange to be able to dumbell press less than you curl.  ANd 75 lb curls at only 16 years of age is incredible, if true.  Got a pic?  What do you curls now?

Question? Are you not a big dude (if not then why are you posting here) if these dudes came up to you and you assumed they were thinking you were doing shrugs what does that say about your physique?  65lb shrugs really give me the impression that your a tiny shit.  Now maybe you have some "mater pickin genes" and really are strong, but maybe you should adust your diet to get a little mass on ya.  That way dumbass's won't come up to you at the gym at all unless that's your thing
