so i keep hearing different deadlines on this..i know its just for fun, but 100 dollars is a few steak dinners where i live so im "in it to win it"
here a vid of me doing a few trying to adjust to that crazy ass swinging style
bodyweight is 250 in the vid lol i only got around 23 a full 17 short of my goal but gimmie a week and ill be able to get close when i fix my form
surprising grip does not seem to be the limiting factor lol lack strength seems to be it in my case :-[
-
no offense dude but WTF was that? ???
-
ill do better in my next vid...promise
gotta find any way i can to subsidize my grocery bills
-
i didnt say they were pretty...i can do nice no swing pullups just find with 3 plates b/t my legs....but this is about maximum # in 60 seconds...i dont care how they look as long as i win
-
more vids to come next week
a squat vid
bench vid
and pullup vid with weights instead of reps
-
That was certainly Konstantinov-esque! ;D
Thats what I expected. Getting anywhere near 55 is almost impossible.
Good effort! Now its up to the judges. ;)
-
like i said earlier this was just an experiment
i will post a vid next week of me doing a much better set aiming for 35-40
-
Well I'm glad you posted this because I am one of the judges and I am not sure which ones of those to count and which not to.
Should I be counting only the ones where your chin clears the bar or also the ones where your face kinda gets up to it? In looking at it somewhat strictly, I counted about 16 good ones. ???

I counted 2 maybe 3...
-
hahaha OK well I went back and looked at the Konstantinov video...he gets his whole head above the bar on the majority of those pullups.
So maybe more like 8-10...
How strict are we going?
-
yeah i agree im gonna fix it in my next vid..that whole swinging thing was harder than i thought there is a big timing issue and it can actually be alot harder if u do it wrong
i wont let ya down rip ;)

I always thought a pull up was chin over the bar.....
this contest is gonna be nearly impossible to judge for strict form..
-
of all the training exercises i really hate chin ups
doing chins really remind me of how weak my upper
body strength really is keep at it wall
-
did a little searching and found a few smart options on
improving strength and full ROM on chins and pull ups
-
I always thought a pull up was chin over the bar.....
Chin to OR above the bar. It says it right in the rules.
When will we see your vid GEO?

you've already seen mine...
12 with any kind of form at all...
legs should be completely out of the equation !
-
man im gonna look like retard using a bench to get up on the bar :-[
one question do we have to fully extend at the bottom not to be a dick head but it seems like in geo's vid there where a few reps where his arms didnt fully extend again not to be a dick, just curious.
-
Geo...the constest is about Big Ks effort in which legs are used...if you wish to side bet challenge me with strict form i would be happy to accept ;)
no one is arguing the way chins are "supposed" to be done but give the form thing a rest already lol in case you missed it a 100 dollars is on the line, if i gotta strip down to my underwear to edge out someone else and win the money ill do it.. so using legs is part of the game
not trying to scold you or anything your posts just sound pretty judgemental
-
nice effort on your pulls though...again not trying to be a jackass just trying to make a point, its like using a weight belt for powerlifting...if it is allowed than you would be crazy not to use it...if you do 600 raw and i do 601 with a belt , yea urs was tougher but u still came in second place
sorry for the analogy im sure u got my point without the "xtra help"
anyways expect my vid on monday
along with a 405 raw bench vid and possibly a 475 olympic style squat (ass to grass, narrow stance)
GL to everyone else in the pullup contest
-
if you wish to side bet challenge me with strict form i would be happy to accept ;)
honestly....
watching you swing around like a mongoloid on meth and only gettin maybe 5-6 above the bar,I seriously doubt you have 10 strict ones in ya... ;D
* no offense to any mongoloids that may be reading this
-
Thanks for the laugh dude. SERIOUSLY !!!
-
i have no desire to turn this into a gossip and opinoins pissing match ....ill let my next vid clear up this misunderstanding
gl
-
the rules clearly state chin TO or ABOVE the bar....u do um the hard way...ill be thinkin of how i wanna spend the 100 dollars
interesting that we cant even see if ur chin is getting close to the bar in ur vid....who knows how many "good ones" u did...including the fact ur arms had a good sized angle in them after each rep...lol not going down all the way is the same as not going up all the way
"big guy" 8)
-
those 12 you see me doing will be the last pull ups I'll ever do....
I don't like pull ups and I don't like people who do pull ups !
>:(
-
lol my apologies, that last post was rude
im gonna do my best to win, if the judges deem my pullups no good so be it
your pullups were fine i was just being an ass
-
no worries
-
Good stuff guys ;D
-
hahahaha, i'm laughing over "the wall" saying "big guy" when he claims to weigh 250 yet looks like hes 200 on a day after 5 meals with two pockets full of quarters, brutal smooth 14 inch arms.
-
* no offense to any mongoloids that may be reading this
none taken ;D

14 inch smooth arms is being pretty generous i would say they are 12 at best compared to your pythons
and theres no way i could weight over 200 since im 6'2, epic exaggeration on my part with absolutely no proof
i weigh around 230 when im trying to cut and 250 when i do strongman/powerlifting.....you can believe what you want there QO ....

lol props for that pocket full of quarters thing...that was a good one ;D

you look good dude but you are by far the smallest looking 250 i've ever seen, those arms look not a shade over 15 and you are narrow, how tall are you again?
-
lol im 6'2 my arms are 17.5 when im cut down a lil bigger and smoother at my current weight, i mean honostly how do you expect me to prove how much i weigh lol its not like im gonna make a video of me weighing myself in and showing my arm size with a tape because then when i prove it "it would be a meltdown" lol ive been around the board a long time i know your game
i mean seriously when did i ever claim to look "huge" lol i weigh what i weigh, i dont take any pride in it, only in how strong my lifts get, i would be glad to weigh 200 and lift what i do now, but as a natural if you wanna lift big weight you gotta put on the xtra mass to support it, at least thats what ive found to be true
ill be the first to admit im soft at 250 but that extra weight helps me pack on the density i need when i diet down to do strongmans at 230 or BB shows where i usually end up at around 220 or 215
*when i do BB the goal is to look the best i can weight dont matter
**when i do strongman the goal is to be as strong as i can get at 230
***when i am in my offseason and building size/strength i eat pizza, drink regular coke, bake cookies weekly and lift as much as i can because i know soon im gonna have to diet again
dude you will say anything to get a rise outta people but i still love you, just pick on someone else i got a fragile ego ;D
narrow?
-
I`ll tell you what "The Wall"you look very similar to Jim Haislop.

One thing to try to help your numbers on the pull ups is to do them the set after your heaviest set on deadlifts,or do a set of V bar pull ups with a 100lb weight on a belt, but just pull the bottom six inch up,then take the weight off, have your normal rest between sets and now try the set of wide grip pull ups.Now the extra 100lb is missing you feel light as a feather when you first grip the bar,and physcologically you will feel stronger.
-
i usually do deads AFTER pullups...i dunno whether this is true or not but after the strong contraction on my arms and back i feel like the eccectrinc loading with my arms straight out on deadlifts gives a synergistic element to the workout
so pullups strong contraction
deads strong stretch/eccentric load
this of course could be all bs lol but in my head it made sense so ive always done it that way, i may give it a shot and try the other way around never hurts to mix it up
i realize the vid i posted is getting alot of heat but i really am pretty good at pullups, it was just hard to adjust to that swinging form and not use straps since only 3 weeks ago i had a severly broken right hand
the one i post on monday will be a much better/cleaner effort

never heard that theory before but sounds interesting, when i do deads i always do them first simply b/c its a compound movement.
