Title: Best snacks/foods when cutting?
Post by: Awesomo on March 10, 2009, 05:14:32 PM
I am hungry as hell and want to hit up the grocery store to get some healthy snacks. I've been snacking on protein shakes, hard boiled eggs, and bananas currently. Johnny I know you hate me for some reason, but you are definitely cut so I'd definitely listen to your advice.

I think beef jerkey is a good snack, high in protein but also high in sodium, so unless your stepping on stage next week, go for it.

my 2 cents.

Pickled Eggs are very good.

Soundness posted these delicious recipes.

Pickled eggs are an excellent way to make a high-calibur bodybuilding food taste more interesting. I'll share a couple even better recipes with you...

Donkey_Kong passed along a couple recipes to me for "Japanese-Style" hardboiled eggs I will be forever grateful for. Hard-boiled eggs are delicious this way...

Recipe no 1:
http://cookpad.com/recipe/188024

Eggs       8
Soy sauce    50cc
Water   200cc
Sesame oil    2 tablespoons
green part of welsh onion (leek)    2 (of the long things)
garlic, ginger, chili oil     as much as you like

1)Preparation of ingredients
I use a lot of garlic, ginger and chili oil.

2)Cut everything except the eggs (translator's note: LMAO)

3)Add Soy sauce, water, chili oil and sesame oil to 2)

4)Cook eggs for three minutes

5)Peel eggs, be careful, as it is difficult (translator's note: putting the eggs into ice water first will make it easier)
Put the eggs into 3) and put everything into the refrigerator for at least one hour.

6)I leave them in the fridge for at least one day, after three days the yolk will become salty.

7)-9) are hints for other recipes

10)-13) are eggs after one day, one day, three day, four days.

No. 2

http://www003.upp.so-net.ne.jp/hiropie/recipe/h301ajitama.htm

1) Preparation
a) eggs
b) japanese style noodle sauce (mentsuyu)
c) vinegar
d) plastic bowl

2)
let eggs warm up to room temperature to prevent breaking. (about one hour out of the fridge)

3)
Use "mentsuyu" from the supermarket, it's easier than doing it from soy sauce

4)
pour cooled  mentsuyu into bowl, if yuo want some sweetness, you can add sugar as well.

5)
Put vinegar into cooking water, this will prevent the eggwhite form leaking out if eggs break.

6)
Put eggs into the water, be careful that they don't break (let the water cool down before)

7)cook for 6 minutes

8)put eggs into ice water

9)shell eggs (be careful)

10)put eggs into mentsuyu

11) refrigerate for 24 hours (up to 48h)

12-13) eat.

doughnuts..from kryspy kreme

They are a big part of the reason why i need to lose the weight. My grocery store sells a dozen for 2 dollars late at night when they are trying to get rid of them and I have a problem turning them down, and since they are close to going bad i need to eat the entire dozen in the next couple days before they go stale.

I never really use sweet and low, i just don't trust it or diet drinks to be a part of my regular cutting diet. Perhaps i'll try picking some up and using it when craving something sweet.

also, don't forget to experiment with salsa's and ms.dash

furthermore, using Ketchup (in a drizzling manner) is always fine

Isn't ms. dash just seasoning? I have crazy amounts of different seasons to try and make frozen chicken taste different. I also have a chicken salsa recipe i like. I don't like ketchup which is good because i believe it has a lot of sugar. I do eat a ton of hot sauce. I use it as salad dressing.

i'll put it to you this way: I use ketchup EVERYDAY- but i use it in a drizzling way meaning i don't "glob" it on.

Sugar free jelly is fucking excellent - I have it all the time and I've always got at least two bowls of it setting in my fridge.

Pepsi Max is good too.

also, a tablespoon (not so heaping) of crunchy natural PB before a protein shake will go a long way

Diet Coke lacks a bit of flavour to it but I'll have it if there's nothing else going. I hate all that vanilla and cherry shit they mix in with cola.

I eat enough small meals that I don't have to snack. If I do I just eat celery or drink tea.

Pickles are a good diet snack.

Also I love brewing tea when I am dieting.  I do big giant pots of it with tons of different flavored tea bags.

I would say some rice cakes for a snack or a green apple (granny smith) are pretty good choices and healthy too...
