Title: Muscular Obesity
Post by: Seijuro on March 12, 2009, 09:43:38 AM
Some days ago one friend who is a good sportman was checking one of my bb magazines... like thinking to himself and then just said... "muscular obesity..." Haha, I thought it was a great "concept". In fact, maybe if we see this couple of pics...

See, this is where the medical height/weight charts that define someone as obese and the definition of obesity collide it seems.   The height/weight chart doesn't take into consideration anything but height and weight.  Obesity is defined as having over 20% bodyfat (and then varying grades of obesity beyond that).  I think the medical chart is outdated or incomplete.  A 275lb bb at 9% bf is certainly not obese....yes there's a greater strain on the heart being that heavy in general, but obese?  Nope.

That's why... is the concept "muscular obesity", of course it's not "obesity". Anyway, I think u know bb muscles has more fat INSIDE, maybe I'm wrong, but why I was 80kg with abds training only weights and after training cycling I'm 74 without, but I feel my muscles much leaner? Maybe fat under skin or fat inside muscle? Makes sense?

i agree with you manofsteel, but i dont think that is what the point of his post was.  I think he was trying to relay the thought of how other people view Bodybuilders.  It's another 'form' of obesity.  There is fat obesity and muscular obesity.  It's just a different way of looking at things I suppose.  Most women probably view bb's, at least hte big ones, as being muscularly obese.  they probably dont use that term in their mind when they see a BB, but its what their thinking.  "he's too muscular, too big, etc."  Not everyone looks at BB's like this of course, but it is an interesting way of defining things.

Yea, it was just like sharing that ingenious sentence of the feeling of my friend...

Well, when u study Sports Science, medicine..., teacher use to say, "well it's just for regular people, of course sportmen are not included because muscles..."

My point was to illustrate that in terms of the height/weight chart most bb are already defined as obese......muscular obesity if you will....the concept already exists.

You are correct that it does already exist.  It's more about the term than the definition.  It's just an interesting way to "put into words" what you see in a huge bodybuilder.  But, yes, you are correct that the idea already exists.

This whole discussion is almost making me want to diet down again.  I would rather look like pic #1 than pic #2

Then your whole "SimplyHuge" and your quote "get huge or go home" just doesn't seem to coincide now does it

cut off the big vein besides his ham and hes in Big troble

close to his hand it looks like a garden hose implant on his leg.

there is a reason the body has evolved with the veins on the inside of arms and legs as to protect them.

if they are opened up you pretty much bleed out that's why gladiators often put on a layer of fat for what little protection it added.

Fighters over 115kgs like Le Banner move faster than the tit in the first pic... how about that for muscular obesity?

Musculur obesity is just another metrosexual, politically correct, gay concept invented by tiny tits. Look at the New Zealand or French Rugby team and you'll see lots of athlets weighing over 100 kg that are 3x more the athlete than the tit of the first pic...

If you go to extremes in both "obesities" they  become unnatural - not seen in nature. So they have something in common.

Well... I think Usain Bolt is quite fast, of course, running. It's also true that a shot put athlet runs faster first meters. It was not about weight, when I look at Rugby players I see lean muscles, they are able to move...

I corrected you. That tit can only run forwards in a straight line. Ray Sefo is 115 kgs and moves is arms faster and with more power than the tit moves is legs. It is all about training method and drugs. See Chabal and Lomu, they are very powerful heavy athletes...

Ever see a big juicebag climb a flight of stairs?  You'd think they were morbidly obese by the beet red face and gasping for air.

Chabal is lazy and overrated.  Against Ireland this year he made one break and spent the rest of the game hiding from Paul O'Connell.
