Title: Reset Caffeine Receptors?
Post by: littleguns on March 12, 2009, 12:40:14 PM
Ok I know there is no such thing as Caffeine receptors but my wife is a Caffeine addict (she's Colombian). 2 cups of coffee in the morn, 2 -4 Fat burners and another 1-2 diet cokes thru out the day.

Besides cessation is there anything that can reset her tolerance to caffeine?

Like MoS says, besides cessation, you can only taper off and eventually quit for X amount of time.
Pretty much your only bet, that I know of.

detox pills.
They won't make it like the first day you took ECA again, but they help to reset your receptors.  Work for me and my wife.

I used to consume huge amounts of caffeine from coffee and not supps.  I took stopped ALL caffeine for 6 months, not only did I feel great, less anxious, stressful but had more energy overall.

The first week I had the shakes, headache, flu like symptoms, it was a real pain.
Six months was the longest I could go before the temptation was to great for a nice coffee.

what do detox pills, what does that even mean, have to do with upregulation of adenosine A2A receptors and the eventual restoration of cAMP in target tissues?

just take time off. Taper slowly, dont quit cold turkey.
