This guy is constantly screwing up investments and everybody hails him as business savvy. He's declared bankruptcy several times and gets a shit load of government tax breaks and handouts for his failed investments.

I don't think enough people realize that the TRUMP name is many times only a licensed brand. I was shocked when I first discovered that. A few years back, they had announced a new upscale residential condo development proposed for downtown Toronto. It was supposed to be like the Trump residences in NYC. When I initially made enquiries about investment opportunities, it turns out it wasn't going to be built by Trump himself, ...he was just licensing his name to the developer. I have a feeling these guys are going to end up with bupkus.

Yeah and I'm sure people thought Madoff was a great "businessman". Trump has declared bankruptcy several times and has received billions of dollars of government subsidies and low interest loans. He's a fraud.

I don't think those two should be named in the same sentence. One is a businessman, ...the other a crook.
Trump managed to successfully cut through a lot of bureaucratic gov red tape to build NYC a skating rink and save tax payers a heckuvalot in the process. And he's been able to diversify his brand like very few I've ever seen.
Trump has also initiated and undertaken more business project than most too. It only stands to reason that with more ups at bat, ...he's probably also going to have more strike outs and pop flys as well. What's his batting average?

Can you imagine going from a Park Ave penthouse to a tiny itty bitty (possibly shared cell) with concrete blocks, linoleum floors, and a sink and toilet, ...and only 300 minutes a month of monitored phone time?
I don't doubt he managed to stash away a little bit while out on bail. He may have to use some of it to purchase some protection on the inside. I can't picture a man like him faring well behind bars otherwise.

He's a terrible businessman who's gotten second and third chances most business owners never get due to his schmoozing and savviness not because of his business skills and ability to run a solid company with strong business fundamentals. The guy owns casinos as well.......It's not hard to make money ripping people off.

Trump was in Real Estate. That was the era of the S & L fiasco brought on by unregulated BS by George H Bush's son, remember that? Anybody in real estate suffered immensely. One of the most common themes I've heard over the years from some of the multi-millionaire mentors whose advice I've been blessed to receive is "If you've never gone completely broke at least once before the age of 30, ...you'll probably never amount to much." Most everyone who has achieved any lasting degree of "success" had tried and failed multiple times over before they got the formula down right. And even then, many continue to experience failures and setbacks. It's not how many times you get knocked off the horse, ...it's your ability to get back up on it again, ...it doesn't matter how often you've crashed and burnned, ...can you rise like a pheonix out of the ashes?
