How many of you Getbiggers go to a nice restaurant or club and end up going to the restroom only to see one of those annoying attendants? Do ya tip 'em?
Me? Nope! I'm not about to 'tip' just because I had to go to the restroom and wash my hands.

If by tipping you mean farting as you step out the restroom door, than yes.
-
Fuck them! Fuck them all!!
No fucking tip from the Sam
:D
-

LMAO! :D
Not when you're stepping out though, but when you're standing there washing your hands and he's right next to you. Just let one rip and then walk away.

Tipping is fucking gay.
The only thing i didn't like in America was having to tip everyone for everything.....

HAHA thanks for the tip!

I would grant a gratuity if I felt my experience in his domain justified the expenditure.

I'm perfectly capable of washing my own hands.
Why do they feel it necessary to get right next to you with a paper towel?
Seriously, when I go to the restroom, I really don't like to interact with other people and those little guys completely invade my personal space.
-
I drank too much milk today so I'd tip if he could keep a straight face when I left the stall.
-
No, bigbobs doesn't get a tip from me.

I find that people walk out of the restroom without washing their hands to avoid the little bastards. They are indirectly spreding germs!! and I dont like it one bit!!

I agree i hate that shit. They have them at the fucking charlotte airport now. Atleast at a nice restaurant they have a lot of shit for you. So if i give them a dollar i make ure to take a handfull of mints, put on cologne, and use the mouthwash.
-
If he shook my weiner or wiped my crack I'd tip.
-
Tipping is a fucking joke. They are being paid to be there
-

they always have tweezers on hand ;D
-
At least their nice there. Have you ever been to a place where the guy is a prick and gives back talk.
They are nice at charlotte because they generally just sit there and don't harass you. If i am at a nice restaurant i shouldn't have to hold my piss so i only go to the bathroom once and have to deal with that guy once instead of going whenever i feel like it. The guy at the 21 club in NYC is pretty nice though. Great memory. And definitely get the steak tartare their, Gordon Gecko recommends it.
-
I live directly across the street from the 21 club in the Museum Tower.
Don't reveal that kind of info to these psychotic closeted homosexuals. :o
-

I only get up there on special occasions but i love the steak tartare. Fuck I am craving it so much right now.

Too late - I am on my way! :D
-
give him a raspberrry babinka.
10 points for the reference.
-
Alot of times those attendents are blind and just sit there, at least at the bigger clubs that I've been to.... I really don't think they would notice if you tipped them or not.
-
In this day and time, with so many people out of work... you have to wonder why more ppl don't become "spontaneous restroom attendants".
You know, dress nice and carry a suitcase of toiletries into a crowded public restroom. Be very polite and have your tip jar there as you help each restroom patron.
Maybe work with a friend so you can hand off the $ every few minutes. this way when the police/staff throw you out, they don't confiscate your $ as well.
Tough times, ppl. I'm surprsised we don't see more of this. beggars are on the streets, and offer no service. At least this guy could help make your restroom experience better.
-
At these types of places, drinks are at least 8 bucks a pop, and I am talking about domestic beer, not top shelf. Why stiff the bathroom guy when you are blowing possibly several hundred dollars at the place? Give the little homie a buck, he has bills too.
-
At least this guy could help make your restroom experience better.
lol, I don't know why but that line cracked me up
-
usually if i see one in the restroom on my way in, i get a handful of paper towels and then after i take a crap i use them to pick up a turd, on my way out i deposit said turd in their little tip bowl.
-

I was in a place where the bottled water was $4 each. I mean, it came in a nice glass bottle, but it was only 16.9 ounces nonetheless.
-

That's my point. I am not going to say I frequent these types of places, as a matter of fact other than the higher end stripclubs and different vacation spots, I never see a bathroom guy. But if you are already spending that kid of cash, why stiff the poor dude?
-
Tipping is a fucking joke. They are being paid to be there
I tend to agree--that's their job, isn't it??? And we have to give them money on top of that? Maybe people who work for tips aren't being paid enough by their employers--THAT's the source of the problem!
-

I generally throw in $5 or $10 because i feel real bad for them and they give you towels, mints and some other crap but the most i gave a dude was $20. I walked into one and some guy was taking a shit and i went to take a piss and when i opened my wallet and seen that all i had was $20's....i just said what the hell...but the smell was so horrible and these guys have to smell that shit for eight hours or more...c'mon.

worst job ever, I think I would almost rather do anything else than smell piss and farts and hear people dropping shadoobies all day long.

What if it paid a grand a night and you only worked 3 days a week?
-
What if it paid a grand a night and you only worked 3 days a week?
I'd work 7 nights a week for a grand.
I'd come home smelling like turd, but would retire after just a few years of it.
-
I tip them. I'm not a millionaire, but they are trying to make an honest living so i don't see the harm in giving them a few bucks.
-

Well I think anyone would. I put the 3 nights on it to make it somewhat of a tough decision(wouldn't be for me). But if I asked if you would do it for 365,000 a year, who would honestly say no other than a liar. Btw, what do you think a good bathroom guy clears a night? I am talking about the guys with the nice spreads, colognes, mints etc. Assuming it is a nice place of average size. I would guess 250$.
-
I was at a club once and they had this real nice setup in the bathroom, I was impressed. I used some cologne, took some chewing gum, several breathmints, a lot of ciggerattes, and whatever for free, and the guy was a real nice guy standing back a few feet to be sure not to bother the hell out of u, an older guy too (which was weird in the club, but still) he made sure u just knew if u needed anything, he'd help but he wouldnt stand in front of ur face or anything.
But no i didn't tip him. ;D
-

If he sees (some of the same) people 300 times a night. (1 person per minute for a 5 hour shift)...
maybe every 5th or 7th person tips a buck?
maybe every 20th person tips a 5.
Math majors, please?
-

It is not like they are panhandlers but i cannot imagine the smells and the things that they here while standing there and holding a straight face. Tip what you think is right and if you choose not to, then do not. I am trying to think of some of the good places in Detroit or Madison Heights, Whitehall, Midland, Yipilipsanti,..etc...I might ask them who they like more MICHIGAN or Michigan State while washing my hands...
-
If you are at a place early and plan on staying all night, just do what you do at a wedding. Now at a wedding, you want good strong drinks, so 20 or 30 right away to the bartender is more than suffice to keep your drinks coming strong all night. Considering all you want to do is piss in peace, give the guy 5 or 10 bucks right away and tell him you don't carry small bills, but will see him many more times that night.

At least this guy could help make your restroom experience better.
I don't need nor want a guy to make my restroom experience 'better' beyond just taking a piss and washing my hands.
-
Why stiff the bathroom guy
How are you 'stiffing' him? He's not providing you a bill. You go in, do your business, and that's it.
-
Just attempt to shake his hand after you take a leak without washing them....
-

A quick story. When I was 18 I could get into a casino cuz it was on a college campus so the age limit was 18. I met my dad there and he hit a royal flush on the video poker machine. It paid him 4 grand. He had to wait for the lady to come give him the cash, about 20 minutes. He then gave her 3 hundred bucks as a tip. I asked him why he gave her so much. His answer to me was simple "300 bucks to me is nothing, it could feed her family for a week". Ever since then I tip pretty well, I respect people who work for a living. Besides, would you really miss a buck?

danielson, I like your dads attitude. I think people who don't tip wait staff are assholes. If you get lousy service, fine, but anybody who knows someone who has worked waiting tables, know that the majority of their pay comes from tips. Just factor it into what you are going to spend on dinner that night.
-

Exactly. I dine out a lot and I usually tip 30% or more if the service is good. And guess what, when I go back I am treated even better.

True story. I worked at an office once where we ordered lunch out a lot. I picked it up one time from a place. The food was great and I actually took the time to call them and tell them, I got the owner on the phone and she paused after I told her that and was like "wow, nobody ever calls unless it's to complain" and after that she would give us free drinks and dessert when we ordered from there. I didn't do it for that reason, but it felt good to know she thought that much of it.

Cool story, it helps to be nice. I have one more quick one before I have to leave for a bit. Back in 2003 I was going to lunch with my boss who was also my long time buddy. We noticed an old minivan with a popped tire. So we got out to help. We changed the tire and followed her to a tire shop. She didn't appear to have much money(and at the time our business was doing good, real good) so my buddy ran into the shop real quick while I sat and chatted with her. He came out, told her it was going to be an hour and invited her to lunch. She said something like "an hour? for one tire? Did they tell you how much it is going to cost me?" He told her the tires looked bald and he was buying her 4 new ones and not to worry about a thing. She broke down and cried on the spot. Said she had never witnessed such generosity. Now 220 bucks to him was nothing, but I am pretty sure it helped this lady tremendously. She went to lunch with us and was a very nice older lady, must have thanked him 50 times. It honestly touched me what he did for her.
-

That's very generous of your dad, but I still don't get why your dad would 'tip' the lady for giving him the money he WON.
I can see where tipping could come into play, but geezus, c'mon...
Are you gonna tip the garbage man for picking up your trash twice a week or whatever? ::)

technically that would be against the law. Same as tipping the mailman.

Who wants to spend all evening in a men's restroom? Bah!
Doom disapproves.

That's true! They work for the city. Good call.

But the real question is does Doom disapprove on tipping the restroom attendant? Speak on this oh Mighty Doom!

I understand this job suited for a blind man or somebody handicap, but somebody that is able to get a better job, then fucking do it!
-
It's simple for me. If i have the cash to spare i'll tip the guy, if i don't than i won't.
-

50 bucks at Christmas. It's pretty typical here where I live.
-

Ours are private companies. Now a few cities over in Pontiac, garbage is taken care of by the city.
-
Pollux seems like a cheapskate.

I don't mean on a special occasion such as Christmas. I mean on an ordinary week.
-
Pollux seems like a cheapskate.
Or he is just being honest. To each their own, I honestly respect and appreciate people in the service industry. Just like I hate anyone who is on welfare or people who beg for money on the streets.

Where are you at in MICHIGAN Danielson? Are you in Pontiac? I am in Florida and West Virginia for right now.
-

No, just gotta give the guy an extra 20 bucks for couches etc. if the situation arises. But I think that is company policy and not a tip.
-

Clarkston, where did you live when you were here, other than Ann Arbor of course.

Don't get me wrong. As I've said in my previous post, I could see where tipping may come into play and I do as such, but I'm sorry, I'm not about to 'tip' the restroom attendant just because I had to go piss and/or wash my hands.

Midland, Bay City, Traverse City, Whitehall, Madison Heights, Ada and a few others but i grew up in Midland and loved it there.

Remember, these places that have the attendants are few and far in between, unless you frequent very high end places often. Personally I see a bathroom attendant 4 times a year at most, unless I am on vacation and then it varies. So if you are already blowing 10 plus bucks on a drink, what's a few more dollars?
-

Ahh, Midland. I was supposed to go to school there. No way I was getting into Northwood though. I got kicked out of Ferris ffs! but that was the plan that was laid out for me anyway. My grandfather left me with quite a bit of money when I turned 18 with the hopes I would use it to go there. I used to travel through there a lot on the way to The Soaring Eagle though. Traverse City is nice too, great place to take a long weekend, good wineries and casinos.

For some reason this post made me think of that Journey song...."Don't stop believin' " "born and raised in south detroit....." I'm such a dork sometimes.

I remember Northwood being a pretty snobby school.
