I usually take a week break every 8 weeks...how about you?
-
i usually masturbate a few times and then i feel refreshed.
-
A week is good. A break every so often is good.....but don't take too long of a break.
-
When i was only training with weights i would last 6 weeks and my nervous system would be shot. Then i would need 10-11 days of light or no training (no difference) before i went heavy again.
Now i train with a high cardio sport as well, the best i have found is 3 on 1 off for everything. I am bigger and can get harder doing that. I try going outside of it and training for longer with the weights such as 6 weeks but i just get more and more worn out and the body stops responding.
BTW the first few years i trained i just trained every week. After my strength increased and intensity on the weights went up i went into the 6 on 1.5 off.
-
i wont take many days off, i just do a lot less volume.
-
I rest or just do cardio for a week or two around Christmas some years. Others years none.
-
i do 2-3 times a year a 5-7 days break.....
to prevent overtraining i also reduce the total volume sometimes for 2-3 weeks.....
-
Typically every 10-12 weeks I'll take a week off or just do very light lifting.
-
i hate breaks. hate them. just did 5 or 6 weeks with no lifting, and it was shitty as can be.

After a 16 week contest prep I take 3 full days off to just eat, sleep and shit. Then I switch my training to EOD with 2 days in a row off after the 10th training day. Got that?
Before I start prepping for a show I take a full 10 days off from the gym to relax, sleep and recup. I find that works well instead of a week off periodically.

6-8 weeks lifting then 7-10 days off and repeat.
-
I don't have a set routine so I often miss 5-6 days straight just because I am busy.
Sometimes I actually come back stronger after a break
-
I took a break once years ago.haven't been back since.

ya...try not lifting for almost 7 months.
-
Every 4 weeks i take 3-4 days off.
It really gets you chomping at the bit because you just KNOW you're shrinking, even though it's all in your head
-
Every 12-16 weeks I'll take about 7-10 days off. I'll finish my training cycle on a Friday, then I'm back in the gym on the Monday after a week has passed by.
-
Whenever I feel like it, I take a few days off. Not really a set thing, just when your body tells you to.
-
i never stop
4-5 times a week for me
-
i dont take days off really, 3-4 times a year that i take week long vacations, those are pretty much the times i dont touch weight ( but usually do some cardio ). But once i feel i hit a platue, again i dont take days off, just much lighter weight ( probably cut the weight by 40%), and just do high volume, and fewer excercies. for example if i was doing 6 excercises for back totalling 24 sets, now i'd do maybe 3 exercise for 10-12 sets but lighter weight and higher reps. it not the TRUE definition of rest, but this works for me

NEVER or I'll go insane.

i cannot imagine. Every day sucked. i was such a little bitch to be around.
-
Seems like a week for every 6 weeks give or take a day.
The 2 other rules I use are:
a) If bar speed is slow during the first few lifts, I skip the workout or it becomes a 60-70% maintenance day.
b) If after 2 two training sessions, I don't see an improvement in work capacity or strength, I start tweaking exercises, etc...

The only breaks I've ever taken were due to injuries (not sustained while working out), and I've been doing this for over 25 years.
WTF is a break?
