Re: Update on Obama plan to charge soldiers for medical care through private insurance.
I called the American Legion this morning and actually spoke to the guy who wrote the Yahoo article about the meeting with Obama pertaining to charging Soldiers $$$ for medical care through private insurance. I think his name was Craig Roberts. His name and number is listed in the Yahoo news article. I actually called him on the cell phone number listed.
He told me that after the news broke out yesterday, there was a HUGE response to this and people are very angry and the matter is spreading like wildfire.
He also informed me that Rahmn Emanuel called him and set up a meeting for today to discuss the matter again as they are under enormous pressure for all quarters absolutely pissed off about what Obama is proposing for our soldiers.
I was advised to call my Senators and congressmen over this, which I did. Schumers' office did not know about this and Gilibrands' office I left a message.

Damn right. I am not going down silent while this ZERO tries to screw over our soldiers.
Anyone who complains about something on Getbig must at least try to do something about it.
This plan is just insane and the word is getting out.

(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced on Wednesday afternoon that President Barack Obama is shelving a controversial proposal that would have forced the private health insurance of veterans to pay for their war- and service-related injuries.
“President Obama listened to the genuine concerns expressed by the veteran service organizations regarding the option of billing service-connected injuries to veterans’ insurance companies,” said Pelosi. “Based on the respect President Obama has for veterans and the principle concerns of our veteran leaders, the president made the decision that combat wounds should not be billed through their insurance policies.”
Pelosi made her comments at a meeting with veterans’ service organizations at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. After her announcement, the group gave her a standing ovation.
The proposal, which was discussed in recent hearings of the Veterans Affairs committees in the House and Senate and in the House Budget Committee, would have shifted more of the cost for service-related injuries from the government--through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)--to the private, third-party insurance plans held by many veterans.
Currently, the VA covers the full cost of medical ailments related to military service and bills third-party insurers only for non-service related ailments.

333386, thank you for your actions outside the board. I have called my senators on several occasions now. Unfortunately my spending/bailout protests have failed.
Glad he tabled the idea but he has too many bad ideas across the board for me. We must communicate our opposition.
